I'm looking to start taking the LR3 on some off-road excursions.
It's an HSE with the 6 spoke 19s.
Here's the question: should I just get the 19" tires (looking at GY Duratracs) and be done with it, or is it really that much better to find some 18" wheels and tires? As far as off road I'm talking about jeep trails up hills and such, nothing too difficult or technical.
It will be 95% hauling kids around, 5% fun stuff.

Also, do all of the LR3 oem 18" wheels fit the 2008 HSE? I'm looking at some 5 spokes from a 2006, would they work?

Thanks!

I believe that the older rims will work, but check the specs. As far as your other question, yes, larger tires on 18s are that much better, in my opinion....but if it's really 5% and you can't run two sets of wheels/tires you may be sacrificing too much on-road performance to make it worth it. The LR3 will do just fine with the 19s and Duratracs, too.

18s are better, 17s are still better, 16s are still better. 19 vs 18 is only 1/2 inch more sidewall on each side of the rim, tire tread for what it sounds like you're doing will be much more important than the rim diameter, and I agree you will be fine with Duratracs.
Post pictures if/when you get em!

found some 5 spokes, on their way!

next question: I think I want to go with the 18" Duratracs, either in 265/60 or 265/65.
With the 265/60s, is the load rating (110 S) too low for the LR3?
Alternatively, the 265/65s have a higher rating (114 S), but will they fit (not rub sensitive parts) without having to change rods?

I've read that there may be rubbing on the frame horns.
Is that an LR4 issue, or would it affect the LR3 as well?
