I threw in the towel and gave up and trying to restore my terribly faded plastics. I used plasti-dip on my side vent last year and it has held up well albeit it doesn't get much contact.
As you can see, I went overboard on masking the truck. When I used the spray lense tint on the side markers, I covered up minimally and ended up with a little overspray on the door and some on the windshield... so I wasn't taking any chances.
All in all, it took most of the time masking and covering with newspapers that I held onto. Would have went quicker if I used plastics or bought something. I then prepped surface with some alcohol on a microfiber towel.
I sprayed on 5 coats, allowing about 20-30 minutes in between. I made sure to get a even and thick coat applied to the paint in between the plastics and tape. I then waited about 3 hours before I started peeling away. I am very pleased with the results and hope that it lasts for a good bit of time... I also sprayed all the lettering as well. I will try and get some pics when its not raining.
