Looking at my dwindling loan on my 2012 LR4 today, I thought I'd check Blue Book on trade-in and re-sale values. HOLY CRAP. Kelly BB says that my 2012 LR4 with 26,000 miles on it is worth around $48,000. I only paid $56K for this vehicle, mind you. I've had it for 30 months now.

Just out of curiosity, I looked at a 2010 version of the same vehicle, and they are valued high $30s, low $40s. That's for a vehicle out of warranty.

***? Are Land Rovers that rare in the US right now? Is this a goldilocks time for selling a used Rover, or do you guys think supplies will stay tight enough to keep values high?

If I can get $35K for my 2012 in two years, I would be thrilled. My 2005 LR3 went for $18K after five years, just for comparison purposes.

In Canada I bought my 2011 LR4 used in December 2012 with 21,000KM on it. Two years later my friend bought a 2011 with 60,000KM on it for more than I paid for mine.

In Canada they are holding their value really really well. There was an article and the LR4 was one of the top 10 cars that hold their value in Canada.

Yeah, it's depressing, at least for those of us who like to buy used. i've been wanting to upgrade from my (perfectly fine) LR3 for a while, but these prices are astonishing! I bought mine 2 years old, 28k miles for $25,000 back in '07. Now, 2 year old LR4s with the same mileage are $20,000+ more than that, with the same mileage. $20,000 buys a LOT of control arms, LOL. I think it's just that the word is out that these things don't crumble into dust after 80,000 miles or so...

On the plus side, mine turns 10 in January and drives like it's got another 10 years left.

Out of curiosity, how many miles were on your LR3 when you sold it? I'm wondering what I could get for mine with 103k. I'd probably be happy with $12k...

That's why I bought new. Tired or seeing cars worth way too much without HD package, LUX, etc. Plus, the two-tone interior, black package and new paint color convinced me.

Mine had 50K on it and was an absolute lemon of a vehicle. They really had to convince me to buy another LR. Glad I did. I guess it was really 6 years old when I sold it.
