While driving it to where you want to have it repaired, if it starts to overheat try turning the heater on full blast. It may just keep things cool enough to get to your destination.

I know in the Southwest that this may be uncomfortable, but fried leg....

or fried engine?

I hope it as simple as the thermostat.

This works in the case of an emergency and then you stop because the engine can't take the heat, you will loose it.
Don't take a roll of the dice, trust me it is a Rover, you will loose.

Mike-

I agree completely. This MIGHT work, but should only be used in an emergency. It might get you to the next garage though.

Depending on why the Rover is overheating, it will either work, or it won't.

I have sold more engines to people, over the years, who as they put it," only let it run hot for just a moment". As a service writer I loved it, as a member of this group , I say DON'T do it.

I think If I take the car all the way to Albuquerque that is 3 hours away, I will ask the road side asistance to take the car all the way to the dealer. After all it is still under Factory Warranty.

Thanks for all the valuavle info.
