Actually, the exhaust difference is quite noticeable. If you look under the stock truck, there is a huge box after the muffler that essentially kills the sound. The Magnaflow is muffler, then straight exhaust pipes.

My reason for getting it is the simple fact that the stock exhaust LR4 5.0L V8 is quiet and tame. I wanted something more agressive. (Especially after coming from my 2012 BMW X5 twin turbo V8 glorious exhaust)

Not the best quality soundfile, but here's a link of the sound:

If you are experiencing rub with the larger tires or want to have more clearance and articulation for off road then install a Johnson Rod lift. I would not run 32 inch tires without a lift. Even with street driving you will get rub in the rear well when going over dips if you don't lift the vehicle. 20 inch wheels or not well suited for off road. Some forest trails can get tricky if not well maintained so its better to have the extra clearance to be safe.http://johnsonrods.com

I have these stock 20 inch wheels and Tires I would sell for $1500 for the set of 5. I think the wheels alone from Land Rover are over $1000 each. If I'm over priced let me know and I will drop the price. I have no need for them.

Forgot to mention that I also have the Magnaflow Cat back Exhaust and it sounds amazing. I bought my LR4 with most modifications already done to it so don't know what it sounded like stock but the Magnaflow still puts a smile on my face six months later when I jump on the throttle. Not too loud, just right. I think I get more comments on the sound of my LR4 than I do the looks.

Yea, I made a thread about the Magnaflow. I do love it too, I there's a few things I do not like about it.

#1 - The Magnaflow muffler itself hangs down an inch or two lower than the stock one. It's a nice big flat faced target to smack into rocks. Poor design, as there is PLENTY of space to have it up further in the space provided.

#2 - There is an unbearable drone around ~1800 rpm. Over 2k, it's absolutely fine and below 1500 the entire exhaust is hardly audible. There is that annoying spot in between that resonates and drives me crazy on occasion.

#3 - Cheap stainless steel pipes. I had my exhaust no more than a month and they turned a brown rust color. Research on this shows this same cheap rust color on Magnaflow pipes across the board on all vehicle kits. Unacceptable considering the $1000 price.

That said, the sound is fantastic and it's how a V8 should sound. It has a great pop and burble when in Sport mode on the transmission during downshift throttle blips. :proud:

As this is the wheel thread, we should continue the discussion here:

Interesting notes.

I have three different aftermarket exhausts on different vehicles and none have the above issues with rust.
1- Audi S4 Avant, APR full with downpipes installed in 2008 with 73,000 miles now, still looks newish.
2- BMW 535 xi wagon with Dinan full exhaust has been on since 2011 and looks like new with over 70,000 miles on it.
3- 2004 Discovery has a Borla cat back system since around 2006 and also looks fine.

This news about Magnaflow will have me rethinking my plan to put their full system on with the down pipes.

The routing mentioned could be addressed though by an exhaust specialist.
