I have a Land Rover Discovery II 2000, with 149k miles on it, the Service Engine Soon light came on while driving on the highway, blinked a few times then stayed on....while at work i did some research and I had just bought gas, so when i drove it home i tighted the cap, it seemed loose, but not much. Next day start up is still there, drive home still there, pick up my son from school and when i restart there, its gone.

SO my question is, how long after you tighten the cap does it usually/suppose to go out? in my case was about 24hrs but 3 or 4 different restarts.

It ran perfectly fine when the light came on, no misfires or high temp or anything and hasnt come on since.

Also any suggestions on what needs to be done or looked at 150k mile check up??

It will normally take a few cycles to clear a CEL.

150k, depends on what you have done.

All fluids, U-joints if they haven't been changed, plugs, wires, hoses, etc. Lots to look at.
