(SOLVED) Bluetooth Connects but No Audio

2006 LR3 HSE Premium Audio W/Bluetooth.
My Phone is an iPhone 4s.

I have not recently updated my phone or made any changes to it prior to this issue.

I have not had any issues with the Bluetooth and my iPhone for many years.

Last week I could not get any audio from the phone to come through the Bluetooth system. The phone connects to the car and the radio displays "Phone Connected" When I try to send or receive calls or even try using Siri, The radio will mute whatever I am listening to at the time (normal) and display "Dialing" on the radio if I am making a call but no sound comes through the audio system. The phone shows the Bluetooth icon and looks like it normally does when working through Bluetooth but the person on the other end can't hear me. Within a few seconds, the car will go back to playing the radio as if the call has been ended. The car never drops the actual Bluetooth connection to my phone. I can keep trying over and over again with the same results. Even my contacts show up on the radio display. (I do not ever loose Bluetooth Connectivity)

The Bluetooth system had the 2010 update already installed years ago.

I tried connecting a friends iPhone 5 to the Bluetooth with the same results.
I stopped by the Land Rover Dealer today to talk with a Tech about this and he synced up his Samsung Galaxy to my Bluetooth and we still had the same problem. I have ruled out the phone....

Any ideas or experience with this issue?

Thanks,
X

Can people hear you still, and it is just that you can't hear them? Or is it as if there is not transfer of audio at all?

If they can hear you, I would double check the volume setting of bluetooth, press and hold the musical note button for a few seconds, make sure the phone volume isn't turned down for some reason.

I have seen the amp not switch over it's input also, which can sometimes be rectified with a software update to it, but there is always the bluetooth module itself that fails a decent amount. If all the settings are good, you need to have the fault codes pulled and see what you have going on. If no faults in the phone module, you're looking at the amp.

Does the voice recognition system work?

Don't know if you've tried it yet, but a battery disconnect and full system reboot sometimes works wonders to fix odd infotainment stuff like this... Worth a shot anyway. Turn off ignition, wait at least 2 minutes, disconnect negative and positive leads (in that order) from the battery posts, briefly touch the two disconnected battery leads with the shaft of a screwdriver, reconnect positive and negative leads (in that order) to the respective battery posts. See what happens. If the problem remains and every other feature in the infotainment system appears to be working, I'd also suspect a bad PTI module.

Volume settings are fine.
2 Dealers in my area. Both charge $150/hr. Even to check fault codes. Is that BS or what?

Voice recognition works fine.
I did the hard reset with the battery. Problem still exists.

Guy's, I replaced the Amp last year for an unrelated issue and those things aren't cheap. Neither are those Bluetooth modules for that matter.

I am thinking at this point that it is probably 80% the Bluetooth Module.

Voice command working indicates that the microphone is fine, and depending on if you have navigation or not, would mean that the amp is getting its mic in signal.

Sounds like phone module.

I have navi.
I am at an independent LR service shop and there was some faults with the BT module. BT module is getting re programmed now. If that doesn't work then i need a new module. Also there was an additional fault with speaker 12. Looking that one up to see which speaker is number 12.

I'm wondering if there is an aftermarket Bluetooth system that will integrate into my radio. Something like a Parrot system.

You could fit a BT module off a LR4 into your LR3, which offers better features and compatibility with newer phones - and better reception according to those who swapped the module. A guy in the UK actually runs an exchange program (I think he ships in the US as well, some on this forum have taken advantage of the offer) and retrofitting the newer module is easy - although I assume he would want a working module back from you...
