Does anyone out there use this option? How? Is it worth the $450?

The present screen of apps on landroverusa's build pages looks uninteresting. And what are the chances of "third party vehicle specific" apps being developed?

I'd buy it if it would display my smartphone screen or even just my Google Maps.

(Apologies for the repost from Articles)

One more try and I promise to let this thread die!

Is there any good reason to order this option?

Sorry, our LR4 is my wife's and I don't know that she's used her InControl App at all.

I have it and not sure its worth it. I don't like having to plug in my phone in the glove box. Apps are very limited.

Had the option to order the Incontrol Apps on our new 15'. Makes zero sense to have to plug your phone in to use it. :stupid:

I have a 2016 LR4, didn't order InControl when I ordered the vehicle because there were no smartphone apps for it. Spending the money on a pig in a poke didn't seem to make much sense. I just got an iPhone 6S+ and I see there are now a few apps available; however, when I contacted LandRover Canada to see about now installing InControl, I was told that wasn't possible. It has to be installed at the factory when they build the vehicle.
I must admit I am confused. This is software but like getting your navigation maps updated, the dealers don't seem to know anything about software updates.
Is anyone aware of a LandRover User group or forum that can provide advice about the software upgrades, enhancements or even hacks?
Cheers, Pat

I too would like to hear from people that ordered and utilize it. It came with my 2016 SE and I'm struggling to see its usefulness. The one app that I did try to download and set up (Remote), wouldn't allow me to finish the set up because the registration website didn't recognize my VIN (last 8 digits) when entered. Troubleshooting says to contact the dealer. I'm not even sure I'll go through the trouble.

Seeing my contacts and calendar on the screen. Big deal. Playing music through the USB connection. Why bother when I can stream through BT or just play through a USB drive.

I like technology, but not really seeing the benefit to this one. Perhaps someone here has some good experiences and can sway my opinion.

I got a 2016.5 and they came with the InControl Apps standard. I'll tell you this, I'd be quite annoyed if I paid for that option. Limited apps are available and nothing I need or use. Perhaps the Parkopedia app may be of use if I lived in a metropolitan city and needed to use pay parking lots on a regular basis but I just don't. There is a audio book app which seems to be of some interest for long drives and because I like this kind of thing already. Land Rover REALLY needs to improve this feature if they want to make it worth anything. End user downloadable upgrades, reality based apps, and the ability to use the feature without using a physical sync cable which has to dangle out of the glove compartment. I love my LR4 but this was a real disappointing feature.

Feel same with my 16.5MY. My 15 X5 had apps that were worthless as well. I am not a gadget guy so that may be part of my opinion. The nice part is that there is a platform on these vehicles to build on and I have a dream that one day the apps will be prosperous...
