I have been looking at getting some running boards for 2011 LUX. My wife is main driver and she likes them and we have 2 boys, one who is 3 and one who is 3 months. The 3 year old is very "independent" and loves getting in on his own. Clearly for the next 7 years or however long I can hang onto the LR4 our kids could use some assistance getting in.
I have seen Romik makes some running boards but haven't seen many other options besides OEM besides some from China that would probably fall off if you breathed on them.
Any recommendations or anyone have a pair laying in their garage that they want to get rid of? Is it an easy install?

I would keep scanning this list and Craigslist for some to come up.. There are lots of people who don't like the look of them, and have them removed..

I hear that some of the aftermarket ones are flimsy, but the OEM ones are solid.. In fact, I believe that for MY2013+ they were mandatory and built especially strong as a side impact feature.. I picked some up off of a 2014 for $100 and they are built like tanks.. They fit just fine, easy install but they are heavier than German philosophy.. The bolt pattern is a little different on the 2013+ (I have a 2012).

I put mine on for the same reason- kids. But if you are in the mall parking lot, you can raise the vehicle when you park and you are essentially door-proof- they stick out quite a bit..

Good luck on the search,

Mike

Hi Elinders -

I actually JUST removed mine. Brand new (40 miles on them) from a 2016 Landmark. Haven't even put them up for sale. I'm in Portland, OR. Send me a note if you're interested and let me know what you're thinking for price.

Haha.

VT; sounds pretty ideal except for the location. I am in NY and after hearing pfunk's comment on the weight and size of them, I'm guessing shipping would cost more than the cost of the running boards. And now I have pfunk's bargain deal of $100 in my head and will probably wait to track down something local. I appreciate the heads up though!

Anyone still have their LR4 running boards? I am looking for just the passenger side and really just the top step portion not the heavy frame. I thrashed that side on a tall curb and just need the step with the aluminum side to replace. Email at [email protected]
