The dealer told me that there will be an upgrade coming that enables remote start and other phone features like locking and unlocking. Not sure I believe him but that's what he said.

I wish it were true but tend to agree with Jeff.
With -23° temperatures around here lately, I am exploring other options for remote start.

I dont think anyone has been successful with a aftermarket RS unit.

Save your $450!

No one has tried the autoingenuity dot net setup that uses the second key fob and the drone mobile app combo?

Or are you also saying there are better things to spend money on?

The two biggest concessions I made when buying this truck were no AC seats and no remote start. Would love to solve one of those if I could.

IMHO - there are way better things to spend your money on than LR apps. And I would hesitate to let someone mess around under my hood to jerry-rig a remote start.

Valid point...

Between, compos, BFG KO2s and a prospeed rack at the top of my list I have more than enough money trying to escape my bank account.

well, I just bought a 2016, I bought it off the lot. Went to install apps and vin was kicked out, called LR and was told that I don't have it. I don't have Nav, so it may be tied into not having it. Still pretty slaggy. What I would like to do is find a good code reader oBD2 transmitter to broadcast all OB2 data to a iPad mini on a ram mount.

Any suggestions on a good reader transmitter?

You can probably find a ton of good code readers, but the best for the LR4 is the iiD tool. It's a lot more expensive than a standard code reader, but alongside code-reading it allows you to make changes to the LR4, put the LR4 into certain service modes, etc.
