Yeah, I can see a properly kept LR4 lasting a while, the only thing I am uncertain of is the electronics in the vehicle, we don't know how well those will work 20 years from now. I am hoping the LR4 will see the same uptick that the Range Rover classics have seen in the past couple years. Restored 1990's Range Rovers Classics in good condition with 180+k miles are selling for $20k+!!! There was a beautifully restored one on www.congletonservice.com for $39,750!!!!
I forgot the quote...

Fiat so low? My friend leased one in DSRLeasing like 3 months ago and it works like a charm, but well we will see though I have rather seen good opinions about new Fiats.

It looks like you're spamming the boards so I took the time to report you. You can always become a sponsor if you'd like!

Now that there is sufficient inventory on hand, it is clearer where Land Rover is positioning this vehicle. There are more D5's over 80k than there are under 60k. The average and/or median price point has moved higher. With a baby Disco on the way in 2019, they will fill out quite a price range with one "family" of vehicles. I suspect the Defender will work in much the same way, I would think LR will ultimately offer Defender versions from as low as $30k to as much as $90k, plus the additional SVO options for anyone wanting a trophy car in their mega-garage.

under $55K (6)
$55K - $59,999 (33)
$60K - $64,999 (128)
$65K - $69,999 (467)
$70K - $74,999 (345)
$75K - $79,999 (374)
$80,000 and over (45)

Very true. I paid around $65K for our 2013 HSE-LUX. A similar D5 HSE-LUX with air suspension, low gear, full size spare and some of the new on-road technology is $75K. I like the D5, but after every test drive I got back in my LR4 and determined I like my LR4 better. Hard to pay $75K for a vehicle you don't love.

Thanks for sharing that table. Interesting orders. I guess not surprising though.

I don't think LR will ever sell anything in the states for less that $50K.
(I'm not including the LR2 in "everything", because... please.)

Seems all they import to the States are the luxury versions of the car. When I was installing a rack a few months ago, I was surprised how many LR4 youtube videos showed installs on rovers without the roof glass. I didn't even know they made the car without that top glass!!! (which I think is kind of silly to have in situations when you just plan on covering it with an expedition rack anyway).

Anyway, yeah, Defenders price point I bet will be only $10K less than the Discovery, if that. They'll target it as a parallel vehicle for a different market. Thus justifying the price overlap. When what they should really do is ship one with vinyl seats, no wood grain, and able to clean out with a hose after a day on the trail.

I’ve just found a company that make racks with an opening for the sunroof! At extra price:).

I agree with @toddjb122 on this one. After seeing that the new 4 door Wrangler Unlimited w/ their special edition models optioned out are in the $45k-$50k range, I have no doubt that the base defender would start in the same area. That is really the market they are chasing...the "I want the most rugged, capable vehicle but I also want the bells and whistles to fit my lifestyle" --- So now that person will be like "Why would I buy a $45k jeep that are a dime a dozen when I can get a Land Rover for the same price..." I do not see the new Defender selling for the same price as a disco sport, sorry I just can't see them doing that.

I actually think they will make an entry level Defender, just not right away. When the DC100 concept came out LR CEO Ralf Speth said it would be the company's entry level vehicle. LR has an even smaller "baby" Discovery in the works and in that light, I see them making quite a wide range of Defender's, from the bare bones 2-door runabout up to a 4-door with rear truck bed luxury edition. But they have to start with the meat of the market first and branch out from there if sales work out as envisioned. So I think the first couple years will indeed be in the $45k-$75k range.

I did see those while looking for racks, and thought that was a nice option.
I wouldn't want to get rid of the sunroof in any case, at a minimum, it's nice for venting. My point was the moonroof. There should be an option to order without that when you're going to be putting a tray up there anyway. The view from it is blocked by the expedition rack anyway, and an expensive thing to break. And as someone who has already had to replace one.. it'll be a pain in the ass to do once you have a rack up there because it's all coming off before they can get to the glass.

@toddjb122 , what was that rack/maker you found? I still haven’t ordered mine (looking at 2018 season), so I’m curious about the options…
