This is my first LR4 after having two LR3's. I do travel a lot of dirt "roads" over the summer and love the ability to do so comfortably.
However, as a mom, I sported two kids and two dogs in my previous LR's. Just was never a mini-van mom.
Sorry you took offense at any previous posts. Glad you enjoy your new Land Rover.
Also, great to know my LR4 has great retention value. I added an OEM ladder and short BajaRack. I had 36.8 mpg on my last 8 hour trip - mostly highway miles. I love, and have always loved, my LR's.

Interesting, when I was at a LR dealership in Pa they told me the LR4 would not get a high trade in because the demand and interest had faded with the release of the D5. I have a 2016 LR4 with third row seating. It has 7k miles on it.

Complete nonsense. Someone traded in a 2016 Landmark for a new D5 at the local LR dealer. They were asking $59K for the 2016 LR4 and had multiple buyers that wanted it the first day it was listed on their website. LR4's are certainly holding their value. As someone noted, just look at cars.com or autotrader to see the prices.

Yup, same experience around here. The dealers all commented that they pretty quickly sold out of the remaining new inventory and the used market also benefitted.

Probably don't have to comment on that ridiculous post above, but I will anyway... Maybe she represents the new market LR is trying to hit. ? If you are still reading, maam, you are misinterpreting everyone. The frustration isn't that you will buy an ORV and not go offroad, it's with the vehicles & option packages LR is offering to those that want to go offroad. You can buy a tank and drive it to the mall if you want. Have at it! No judgment. But if you really think everyone else who drives their tanks into battle is a ****** than you're the one with the attitude. Too bad you didn't hang around long enough to find out that the people here will help you with an interior lighting question just as enthusiastically as they will a winch and rock slider install.

Todd is correct. This forum has the nicest, most helpful people on it. Ask any question and someone will be right there to assist you. No judgement ever. We're glad you bought the D5 and are using it as you enjoy best.

Just don't go to an Audi S4 forum and post about puddle lights. Some of those members take apart their engines every weekend just for fun.

@Spyder13 I agree with @PaulLR3 here. I traded in my '16 LR4 HSE two weeks ago...I purchased it a year ago brand new for $54k, I traded it in to the same dealership with 22,000 miles and fresh full of mud for $52,500. They just sold it for $57k...

Point is - I'm an average person, the one that you all take such joy in mocking.you all with your too cool for school wives who only love off-roading would never understand a plain old woman like me. After this forum, every time I see a LR-4 driver I can't help but think "What a ******".

Funny. Good to know that "plain old women" are buying them as well, the point of the body style was to appeal to "average people", mission accomplished I suppose.

Happy you like the truck though.

Looked at the Discovery last week. I'm tall (6'4") and had to lower seat all the way to get in without hitting head. Sloping windscreen hampers viz. my head is too high for all this streamlining! Drives nicely, tho.

Dealer wanted my '16 LR4 with 9k on odometer. No transfer box. He said he just had one in trade hat sold within 3 days for 63K. It had 20K miles on it.

Your vehicle ('16 w/9k) is so valuable to them not only because it's sought after but because they can certify it with a 7yr/100k mile warranty. That's worth a lot to people.

Got home last night after being on the road for almost a month with the D5. Now at 5000 miles and it performed without a hitch the entire time pulling the 28" surveyor trailer. I'll uploaded a couple of photos showing the setup. The trailer is 28Ft and weights 6000 lbs so probably around 6500-7000 with gear in it. The dealer only put on Reese sway bars and I honestly never had any issues with sway going from the Black Hills back to Atlanta. They are super easy to take on and off. Someone posted on here about adding a weight distribution hitch. This isn't needed with the D5 and the manual actually cautions against using one as it's not designed for it. Yesterday pulling it from Nashville I got 9.5 MPG running around 70mph. I went up to 80mph with no issues at times but 70 mph seems to run well with less shifting and better gas mileage. I never felt like I needed more power - even in the Black Hills. I have to admit I used cruise control quite a bit and it never shifts above 3500 rpm to maintain speed and I always found myself easily keeping up or passing other rigs towing RVs and semis. I don't think I would take the diesel even if it was given to me as the D5 is so much fun to drive when unhooked and for $9K extra you'd never make up the gas mileage. I won't be towing much either so for me it was easy choice. If you were to two a trailer at limit of 8000lbs in a rough or hilly area the diesel might make sense but I think if I was maxing out tow specs I might consider a bigger tow vehicle. The reviews of the D5 also confirm the gas engine is the best option and I agree. It has plenty of power. We even think we could have gotten the 31ft camper with how well it handled towing so we may upgrade next year.

Otherwise, there continues to be somewhat annoying issues with Incontrol but nothing major. When entering an address in navigation you can't do ANYTHING else or you lose the entire address if you haven't hit start. So if you put it in reverse - gone. Punch the wrong button - gone. Get a phone call - gone. In coming back from south Missouri (eclipse) going through Paducah the Nav picked a route that was 330 miles and looked S shaped on the map so I plugged it in on my phone using Google Maps which came up with a 280 mile route. The route Google came up with was actually a 4 lane highway that was listed as going to Paducah but it did turn into 2 lane for the last 30 miles or so. I checked the settings in the LR to confirm nothing on the route was exempt from routing so I don't get why I didn't choose the route and when I took the route it kept trying to turn me around for at least 45 minutes so something needs to be corrected. It also suffers from the common issue of telling you to take a slightly different route rather than just stay on the main road. I had it tell me to take side streets which was around 6 blocks from an entrance ramp that I could actually see straight ahead. So it's calculating only on distance possibly and not taking into account turns, stops, etc. I have had other units do this in the past but LR should be beyond this. Also, I don't see a detour option which I would have used once or twice if it was available.

Other small issues - the cruise control sometimes locks at the current speed so you have to cancel and then set speed again to make changes. The trip computer also seems to "lag" in computing it's values. I would tow the vehicle and then unhitch it. Go and get gas, reset the trip computer and start driving. After a few miles it would show I was getting 23mpg but my range was 175miles which was carry over from having the trailer hooked up. Obviously if you are getting 23mpg and have 23 gallon tank your range is not going to be 175 miles so with a reset I would think it would be quicker to correct. Anyway.

Small issues aside the vehicle towed that camper 4000 miles and never hiccupped so I stand impressed and several others commented to me they couldn't believe it pulled that with a six cylinder. My butt never started to hurt in the seats which was a relief as I had read reviews of the seats being firm but they were fine for me. I'm 6'1 and weigh about 190lbs and I will say the side bolsters are snug for me. Not tight but I wouldn't want them to be any tighter on my sides so if you are big I would sit in the seats and see if they press against your sides. I have around 3" of room above my head but I think I sit a bit low when I drive by choice.
