Greetings,
I've been following the conversation on the Australian Android Infotainment replacement for the LR4. I am one of those folks who marvel at the lack of understanding that automakers have regarding the significance that these systems have and equally amazed at how woefully inadequate they are. I don't understand why I need to buy a new vehicle to get a few minor software upgrades. Why for example can't I add "In Control" to my 2016 LR4 as a software enhancement? Unfortunately, because I didn't order it at the time of purchase ($1200 Cdn option for potential use - about the only option I didn't get) I am now excluded from accessing this limited capability.
Venting aside, I expect there must be LR4 Infotainment system hacks that exist short of tearing up my dash. If you are aware, please share as I expect I am not alone in wanting to get more out of the infotainment system.
Cheers, Pat

I've ordered this system too for my 2012 LR4. The vendor confirmed it works with my headunit. I will report back when I have installed it...

Well? How did it go?

You've had it long enough now that the short-term warranty has expired. So I figure you would have tried it by now.

Thanks for any feedback!

I was so happy until I realized it can't be used on mine. I've got a 2011 LR4 with the terribly archaic Nav screen. I love the car... just despise the screen.
I have a 2011 as well.
According to Naviplus they do have a screen mirroring module for the 2011. You just have to use the AUX jack for audio.

Questions for those using the NaviPlus:

1. Still worth the $1,000US?
2. Can the NaviPlus stream to the back seat displays (Netflix / YouTube)?

Very interested to hear if this works in an LR4. I’m a new owner of a 2015 and have to say the factory system is absolutely terrible. Don’t get me started with the absolutely poor execution of the InControl Apps.

Judging by the lack of responses from forum members who have actually installed this thing, I'm guessing it's not working out well for folks who have bought it.

If this really did offer easy access to the functionality promised, there'd be a lot of people jumping on this thing.

My $.02 is that if anyone buys this, you will find a complicated install leaving you with kludges and klunky performance. Not worth the cost or risk. Not to mention, you can't take it out easily and can't get your money back regardless. If it's a quality product you'd see a company that stands behind it and numerous install and use videos by the company and owners. None of which exists.

Next.

That's my gut take, too. I'd love it if that weren't true, but I've been playing on forums for enough years that the symptoms look mighty familiar. That's a shame. I still wouldn't have spent $1k+ on it, but I know a lot of you guys would have.

Is it worth it?:hmmmm:

This depends on you. For example, you would spend more on 18" aftermarket wheels replacing the 20" factory wheels. However, I would not downsize to 18" even if I get the compomotive wheels for free.

Moreover, I do not have the factory navigation and this unit would simply add navigation to the factory screen.

This system can be used whenever you need it and the factory functions will remain as it is. So why not to add the unit to my car as an extra option and use it when I need to do so.

The lack of responses because we are enjoying using the android unit and we have no time for the forum:aetsch:

That's still pretty cryptic.

If it works as advertised and is supported by the manufacturer, a lot of people would buy it.

This very much sits in the "too good to be true" web promotion where we are never shown the full picture.

Share some videos of you using it in a few difference use case scenarios.

First of all, I am not advertising for the product as I have no relation with the Australian company. I have just started this article as information for you to know.

My main purpose for this purchase was the navigation and it is working as advertised.

If $1k is too much then you shouldn't have purchased a Land Rover. A Toyota would be good for your budget.

There are more toyotas on the road than land rovers, If we apply your logic then the Toyota is much better car.
