yeh 20 inch is an issue for true all season as nokian doesnt make the wr3 in our size - i went with 19s for this reason. they do make the hakkas in 20inch though but then you wld need 2 sets of wheels.

I bit the bullet and got four OEM 20” rims so I now have the Dunlaps on one and the original tires the truck came with on the other.

Man, 20” rim+tire=HEAVY!
I can barely lift one.

Frank8, the LR4 with winter tires is the perfect Vermont vehicle. Ours has safely transported our family on weekend ski trips from Boston to Stowe so many times through the worst winter conditions. Snow mode is amazing and adds another layer of safety. Replace the white fog light bulbs with PIAA yellow bulbs. Then in blizzard conditions you can even turn off the blinding xenon headlights and use the fog lights instead.

On one trip, 89 was a sheet of ice with high winds and drifting and blowing snow. The majority of vehicles gave up and pull off into the rest stop near Bethel. Only our LR4 and an Audi A4 continued on, all the way to Stowe.

On our old LR3 & current LR4's I have been running the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV winter tires.

I have run winter tires for 30 years and so far these are my favorite. Good in rain, slush, ice & snow yet quiet on dry roads. Only problem is that they are probably in short supply right now. I usually buy new sets in October.

Damn, those do look nice.
What is the drawback with leaving them on year 'round? Is it a wear issue? MPG?

I don't typically store an extra set of tires, but I could I guess.

I had a set that was done with winter use so I figured I would just leave them on for summer and wear them out. They did wear fast but the bigger problem was that the handling felt really mushy. I pulled them off in May.

But Nokian does make the WRG3 that you can drive year round:

My neighbor is running these on their LR4 and they are holding up pretty well. She said that they are great in winter and even good in sand for summer beach driving.

...for my 2013.
Hey, it came up from Florida for me. There's a good chance it's never seen snow before! :D

I'm not crazy about the tires on it for snow, but it did great as you would expect.

Schools around here were closed due to cold weather, but we only had a dusting of snow. I had to drive west a couple hours to find a proper storm...

...and then snowkited it.
