Found a Discovery First Edition with 4,000 miles on it at the dealer. To good of a deal to pass up, so gf is now driving the discovery sport!

Not the most flattering picture:

So far here is my input.

Cons:
Turning radius isnt great. The LR4 curb to curb is 37.6 ft, while the Discovery is 40.4ft Curb to Curb... not as bad as some of the other review made it seem like.
Wish it was carplay but incontrol touch pro (once you learn it) is pretty awesome.

Pros:
TOWING 8200lbs enough said.
Hitch and light are not hacked on like the Discovery Sport.
First Edition trim is amazing
The amount of tech in the First Edition car is crazy im obsessed.
Led headlights are really bright compared to the LR4 and even to the Discovery Sport
It drives smooth and feels much nicer than the LR4

I personally think its a much nicer / more luxurious car than the LR4.
When I have my LR4 and a 2011 Range Rover Sport Supercharged. The LR4 really showed it was LR, now the Discovery feels more like a Range Rover from the steering wheel to the dash to the trim and seats.

So far I am a fan. Let me know if there is anything you want to know about the incontrol touch pro / wifi / app parts of the car!

Congrats on finding the great deal! Look forward to hearing more of how it compares to your old LR4, once you get on it for a while. I'm hoping the after market accessories companies step in and gives some nice options to these and we'll see enticing off-road outfitted pictures.

Is it enough to make a u-turn at a light without crossing more than two lanes?

Yeah, when I was building options online last year, it seemed like some great stuff.
Don't they have a headlight option that auto-dims your lights, but ONLY in the area where traffic is? Keeping the rest of the road in your high beams. I thought that was cool, but don't recall what they called/priced that option.

Yea seems fine making U-turns on normal streets... like i said i read the other person who seem to be really bothered by it and was concerned.

my LR4 HSE LUX has auto dimming headlights that would pick up if a car was coming and turn the high beams off... it sorta worked... this is leaps and bounds better.

Tech wise there is ZERO comparison with the LR4.

Yes, that is technology that has been around for a while. I always turn it off.
I was wondering about the lights that dim ONLY in the area where a car is approaching. Bright elsewhere. Do you have that?

Not sure that LR ever introduced that feature but BMW calls it Anti-Dazzle and it's illegal in the US so any car capable of it has to have the feature deactivated. My BMW X3 had the LED headlights and there was a specific "Order Line Entry" for decoding the Anti-Dazzle. I was able to use eSYS and recode the feature to activate it. It's pretty awesome to watch the headlights track other vehicles and manage the dark spot to keep them from being blinded by my high beams.

For those who are wondering about the feature this Youtube video by BMW explains it with some great animations.

Sweet. Thanks @adorsett !
After looking at that video, yes, that is where I saw it once before.
I guess I got confused as it was about the same time I was doing sample builds of my dream LR5.

Yeah, I saw your comment before you edited about it being stupid that it's illegal and I fully agree! The US Govt only allows Headlights to have three settings, Off, Low, and High and nothing in between. They have wasted years and still haven't come up to standard with the rest of the world on the subject and it's sad! For instance, the BMW and other cars can use the thermal camera (if equipped) to do object recognition on the side of the road (like a deer) and then spotlight it with a bright headlight beam to warn the driver. Sadly this technology is not allowed here in the US. Just like with broadband we are yet again behind our European counterparts.

So we did our first longish towing with the Land Rover Discovery!

We pulled a 22ft Malibu MXZ on a tandem trailer ... so close to 7000lbs.

No issues at all, and she was great on the high way up to 70mph. She def revs a bit higher than the v8 sc rrs does but thats to be expected from a v6. Still enough power on on ramps and stuff.

We did launch the boat at a sketchy weird ramp and i had to toss it in snow mode and low to climb up the steep hill to get the boat lined up haha!

I'm dying for one but as I watch inventory I don't seem a lot of these moving, Agarabaghi can you give me details on how much off the list you got? LR locally is offering super clearance, like $5k off but they only have one in inventory and it's like $70k and I only can afford a base SE. Unfortunately.
