Hey gang,
After foolishly selling my LR3 a few years ago, I'm finally back in a Rover.

I'm loving the LR4, but I do find a few oddities. I understand it's a common issue, but the interface/radio screen is really obnoxiously slow sometimes. Even the backup camera can often take 20 or 30 seconds to turn on.

Maybe it is just one of the quirks that comes with owning a British automobile. I've done a fair amount of searching, but I haven't found any answers about whether there might be a firmware update and if that firmware update might be done through my IIDtool maybe with their fastlane service since I don't see it as an ecu update option on the tool currently.

By that same token, I'd love some feedback on the "must change" settings with the IIDtool. I've already gotten the digital speedo on, the 3 flash setting on the signals etc. Just wondering what I might be missing.

Thanks!

My 2013 has never flinched on the screen and been super fast (way faster than my F-150) to get camera on, Bluetooth connected, etc. I've seen others say something about a "master reset" for electronics. This might flush out the gremlins from the prior owner?

2013 got a big upgrade in terms of software speed. It was a hardware update though that made the big difference. No software update will make a 2012 as fast as a 2013. Sorry.

Just to cover my bases, is there a way to do a hard reset on it? I tried pulled the battery and connecting the terminals to discharge the system but I didn't have any luck. Maybe I just need to leave it longer? (I left it about 5 minutes)

That should be plenty of time. It shuts down all the computers, but its not going to wipe a firmware or start over to factory. Data that is written to hard disks or flash storage doesn't go away. Not sure what you are trying to accomplish... The software and hardware you have is what you have. You can't speed it up with a reboot.

Pre 2013 is just slow.. heck, my 2013 isn't *that* fast.

Hmmm... my 16 has always had fast camera-on/offuntil about a month ago.
Now the rear camera takes a long time to turn on and at least 5 sec to turn off when I go into drive.
Very noticeable

My 2012 back up camera used to be nearly instantaneous. Now, sometimes it takes longer than others.

I haven't monitored whether resetting the system has anything to do with it, though.
