I have 05 SE7 that's been having suspension issues/faults for quite a long time and the dealer can't seem to fix it. I'll have it back a day or so and the faults will start again. Can anyone recommend a place where I can get a conversion kit like what is available for the RR? My warranty expired in November (the dealer is covering it since it hasn't been fixed) but if I continue having these issues later, the dealer will cost me a fortune. thanks in advance!

Can you be more specific about what suspension faults are being reported? Is it the amber suspension fault or red? What was going on when the last fault happened - raining? cold? etc.

How long has this been happening and how many times have you taken it to be fixed for suspension-related faults that the dealer has "fixed" (but not)? Doesn't seem right - maybe a call to LR CS will get things better addressed.

My LR3's in the shop right now for a amber suspension fault which ended up being multiple major components of the air suspension but fortunately i'm still under warranty.

Hi phurley

The faults have been different things based on the work orders. It first started as random faults, but after experiencing this for a while, the system began to air down and then within a few minutes it would air back up. Going down the hwy, the front would lower, then the back and after a mile or so it would air back up. I then started experiencing sudden drops from the front or back then sometimes one corner or another as if I had hydraulics. After several months of these issues and having it worked on repeatedly, it began dropping to the bump stops and I'd have to manually raise it, but soon after that it wouldn't work and I'd have to let it sit a while before it would air up. The last time I had it back 24 hrs. and the fault said standard (perhaps normal height) only and not to exceed 30 miles an hour. This was the first time I'd gotten this type of fault (and it happened every time I cranked it) so it went straight back to the dealer. Each time it seems the system is getting worse. My service rep is great and thankfully the dealer gives me a loaner, but I'd like to find a conversion so that I don't have these issues down the road when it's not under warranty.

I would definitely call Land Rover NA Customer Service (PM me if you need the number) and explain the situation. Explain that the vehicle has been in x times for the same problem - ie, air suspension dangerously unpredictable, raises and lowers while driving, drops to bump stops, etc. - and that your dealer has been unable to fix it after n visits over d months. Be reasonable but firm. Maybe you're willing to take it to a different dealer - once. Or maybe if they arrange for LR technicians to troubleshoot the vehicle. If neither of those options works for you, maybe you offer to exchange your vehicle which they haven't been able to fix for a replacement vehicle that doesn't have these problems.

To you (and maybe to the dealer's technicians ), the air suspension system is a complex black box, but it is repairable by qualified people. It's not even close to the Hubble and look how often that gets fixed.

Having a friendly dealer is not the same as having a competent dealer...

BTW, I love my LR3 but I can't see owning it outside of warranty. You know how much a transmission runs? :frown:

my dad had a 07 range rover supercharged(i think it was before they redesigned the interior) that they bought back from him because of a critical engine failure and he got a brand new 08(or 07) for just the difference in original MSRP but they also had it for a while and might of even shipped it off to land rover to figure it out. so i would definitely try to get a buy back land rover can be surprisingly reasonable when it comes to these things.

Air suspension can be very costly, especially since it is never truly fixed. I would recommend going to strutmasters.com and taking a look at our conversion kits. This converts you from air to powder coated American made steel coil springs that are guaranteed to last the life of the car. This is a permanent fix. Our kits also come with a life time warranty so you never have to worry about paying another dime for the suspension. I posted the link below so you can take a look.

Hopefully this will be of some help to you.

Good Luck!!!

Brent, we've looked many times, but you do not appear to offer a kit for the Discovery III/LR3, and we know from practicle experience that the ECU limits our options for replacement set-ups. Have you figured out an ECU bypass that would allow spring conversion?
