    Gear Shift Selector

When they introduced the paddle shifters and made 4L an option with the 2014 it felt to me like a clear sign they were sliding away from their adventure/off road legacy. Those changes made it seem like they were more focused on the on-road market.

    Gear Shift Selector

Like Umberto said. With my 2014 I missed having a place to rest my right hand. And, again, when you are on a trail and the steering wheel is spinning around and your shifting between S1, S2 and S3 in 4L it is much nicer to instinctively know where to put your right hand to quickly shift up/down.

    Gear Shift Selector

2014. That was the year of mine. I got used to the rotary and when parked it made the console somewhat useable space. The paddle shifters were OK on relatively straight and flat road. In fact, I didn't even use them then. Though I seem to remember that with the 2014 you couldn't use the...

    8 Cylinder vs 6 Cylinder

True. I purchased a 2014 - and had to order it with the HD package to get 2-speed xfer case and the full size spare was included.

LR4 OEM Floormats (Tan) and OEM Hitch Receiver - Denver Area

The mats were from a 2014 HSE LUX. Before I consider shipping them I’m going to put them on the local Craig’s List for a couple weeks. Not sure on price. Not that much as this is as much as anything about getting them out of the garage and not just throwing them in the trash. May be driving to...

    8 Cylinder vs 6 Cylinder

Had the 2014. Though the SCV6/8-speed was OK, in hindsight I would have appreciated the 400+ vs 340 torque. That was quite a drop though people will claim that the SC helped me at altitude (Denver). Maybe. 8-speed was good but the paddle shifters drove me nuts when going off road (lots of...

Running Winter/Snow tires in relatively warmer temperature areas

This thread got me thinking. I put the 285/60R18 Nokian Hakka 2 snow tires on my LC a month ago replacing the E-rated, 285/65R18 KO2s that I normally run. But the temps here in Denver have been unusually warm - in the 50-60’s most of the time I am driving. (We must have sent all our cold...

    Corolla, NC beach off roading

If I was in your area I would let you borrow this: https://www.amazon.com/Viair-Automatic-Function-Portable-Compressor/dp/B000X9EGFS I carried it all the time until I had onboard air installed on my LC. Worked pretty well. But now it is just collecting dust in the garage.

Disco 5 hit with the ugly stick

I get the sense that LR is chasing a market that was hot 5 years ago - when they were committing to the Discovery. But they were following makers who had designed their models 5 years ahead of LR. So what they are now launching is “me, too” rather than anything that innovative.

Disco 5 hit with the ugly stick

Agree. It reminds me of the phrase sometimes used in sports. Do you play to win or play to not lose. I think LR is "playing to not lose".

Disco 5 hit with the ugly stick

I have to be nice now that I am not longer a Land Rover owner. That said, I found this thread worth a good laugh! We have a lot of LRxs in my areas of Denver (Highlands Ranch) and every time I see one my thought is, that just looks sharp. Plus, I know the utility of it. But there are a...
