This is a lot of help I do have a d1 99 with the gems 4.0 and 03 d2 4.6 that I like the most and trying to rebuilt due to the sleeves knocking to much the engine still runs very strong is just the noise too much bare Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- superrocco16v

03 discovery knocking/ticking
I have the same problem , mine is also a 2003 I refresh the long block 1/2 set of gaskets, new piston rings , resurfaced heads, mechanic checked the Crank and the rods and no sign of unusual damage then put back together and the same sound again went to LR dealership and talk to the shop head...- superrocco16v
