Hi guys,

I'm brand new to the forum and tried searching this topic and did have much luck with the search function. So, if this has been discussed before, don't beat me up too bad.

I just bought a 2003 Disco II with 118k miles on it. I plan to do a full brake replacement on both the front and back, and plan to replace the calipers as well. I will be ordering the rotor and pad kit through roverparts (British Atlantic), but I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to try and save a little $$ buy purchasing remanufactured calipers through a site like JC Whitney etc...

Rover parts has the front calipers for $149.95 and the rear for $99.95 a piece. It appears I could save a substantial amount of cash by going with remanufactured calipers. Just wondering if this is a terrible idea, or if anyone has experience with the remanufactured parts.

Thanks,
Eric

I live in a part of the country with harsh winters and where a lot of rock salt is laid down on the roads. This Disco has been driving these roads since 2003, so the entire under carriage has a lot of rust and corrosion. These calipers are in rough shape, so I'm replacing them. I'm planning on keeping this thing for a long time.

Thanks for the info, I'm probably going to buy the brake kit from Atlantic British and get remanufactured calipers.
