I've had the same situation with my '05. Dealer claims to have fixed clogged sunroof drains. I changed the A-post trim finisher clips and covered one of the holes as per a service notice and I still have water in the drivers sill. Does anyone know where the drain tubes for sunroof are located? Any other ideas?

had the same problem. tubes kinked. dealer fixed under warranty. I would take your LR3 to a sunroof shop and have them do a maintenance on the track and tubes. We used to charge $100, which was mostly labor in removing the headliner.

I had the same problem. I elected to fix the problem myself. It really isn't that hard and the headliner doesn't even have to come out. My problem was the drains were kinked where they exited the vehicle thereby blocking the flow of water.

It's not as easy as changing your oil, but you can do it.

Where are the drains? Four of them, right? Although most of the problems seem to occur with the front left (drivers in NA).

The front two are pretty easy to get to. The driver's side (for NA LR3s) is right up under the dash near the firewall. I believe you must remove the foot rest to access it. The right front can be accessed by removing the air intake grille from the right fender. You will have to remove the rubber boot that leads to the filter box. All you need to do is clip the ends off of these to allow debris from collecting and clogging the drain.

The rear two are a bit more tricky and require some of the interior to be removed. The back one are found on the front of the rear wheel wells. In other words, when you open your back doors look left or right. You will see where the 2nd row seat belts attach. If you were to remove all the items associated with that pillar to include the stuff covering the wheel well you'd find one drain for each side.

What happen to me was that water was leaking from my 3rd row seatbelt pillar. I thought on of the lines had broken, so I dropped the headline and removed the pieces I described (about 3 hours work). Upon inspection of the rear drains I immediately noticed the tubes were cocked 90 degrees and that the lines were pinches on both sides. I removed the tubes and drains, cleaned them out, sniped the ******* of each and reinstalled. I put a hose directly in the sunroof channel, trickled the water and observed no leaks.

To this day I have not had any...well, I refuse to jinx myself.

It's really not a hard job. There are no special tools required, just time and patients.

The other thing I'll suggest is, if you can live with it for a while, remove the 2nd row seats and carpet to allow a through drying. My entire carpet was wet, both front and rear. I had to leave a dehumidifier running over 2 days and applied several treatments of anti-fungal sprays to the underside of the carpet and foam. If it's still cold where you are, the mold may not be a factor, but better safe than sorry.

Good luck!

Fixed

The rubber bellows/grommet that led the drain tube through the side of the firewall in the drivers foot well had rotted away. The drain was going straight into the footwell. Here is how to fix it.

1. Pull up the door threshold trim from the front edge back to the B pillar. It just snaps in place and will come up with a firm levering upward with your fingers.

2. Remove the tread of the foot rest and the foot rest unit. The tread is another snap in place piece, slip a small screw driver under it if need be. The foot rest is held in by two 10mm nuts. Your need a 1/4" drive socket with a 6" extension.

3. remove the hood release lever. You will need some torx bits for this

4. Remove the footwell kick panel (the plastic sidewall that was held in by the foot rest). It's held in place by two snaps and the door edge trim.

5. Remove the under dash panel. This piece is also one with the triangle of carpet on the inside of the foot well (above and to the right of the accelerator pedal). It's held in by two torx screws and a snap behind the carpet.

6. Remove the A post trim. Lift out the Plastic cap that says "AIRBAG" and remove the torx screw behind it. Pull the trim inward and slightly upward to remove. This piece doesn't really need to be removed but it will be much easier to find the drain tube and will allow a little bit of light into the footwell.

The drain tube is the black hard plastic tube the runs down behind the airbag. it's very obvious if you remove the A post trim. Shake the tube with your fingers. I could hear mine knocking about in the foot well, it wasn't attached to anything! Stick your head into the foot well and locate the end of the drain tube. Mine (once) had a 90 degree elbow grommet that direct the flow of drain water from the tube into the area behind the fender and the wheel well. This grommet was "mush". I had a piece of clear plastic tubing about the same diameter as the drain tube and about 10" long. I used the remains of the grommet and two zip ties to join the tubes together. I led the new tube through the grommet hole and put it all back together. Total time to complete including searching for the tuber in my shop, 30 minutes.
