2011 LR4 - 116 KM - CPO covered till 160KM (Dec 2017)

I got a Transmission Fault Code P0826-62

Took it to the dealer and they are still assessing it, but are suggesting that it could be the Cable/Linkage and this is not covered under CPO ?

Is there any full documentation on what is really covered under the CPO? I find it hard to believe that a cable is not covered under CPO? It's not a wear and tear item. If it was would this item not be part of the maintenance schedule?

I don't have a full diagnosis yet, but seems I may be getting ready for a fight already.

Does anybody have the full details of the CPO?

Anybody have experience with this error or repair?

Of course they will fight it, otherwise they don't make huge profit off all the people buying CPO's. You don't think they sell them to help customers do you. ;)

Seems like it should be covered, but I guess the wording in the contract might say otherwise. Do you have paperwork?

If it is the cable, it is a $90 part if you source it and about an hour to repace and test. If it ends up being the whole gear shifter assembly, the cost is $300 ish if you source it, plus about the same amount of time since the same steps are involved. These are US prices, not sure where you are since you are using KM.

This is not a wear and tear item, but I supposed if there is mud or significant rust on the linkage from road salt causing this issue they could claim it is not covered.

Did you by chance spill anything in the center console area recently? That can cause strange errors as the moisture finds its way into the shifter assembly electrical connectors.

I guess it depends on what they say the trouble is. I noticed in that CPO document that "GEAR-CONTROL LEVER CABLE" is specifically listed as a covered item....so long as it is not damaged from neglect I suppose...

Update....

CPO covered the cable/linkage.

They also covered the wiper stalk as it was having interment issues for the back wipe not turing off.

So the interesting part of this process had to do with the rental company that provided me with the loaner car Ford Fusion... thought it was odd to be provide a Ford when going to a LR dealer.

Rental car broke down and I had to deal with the Ford Road side assistance. The rental company was terrible to deal with ... LR deal actually sent a car to my house for a replacement loaner - LR discover Sport.... what a disappointment for a LR. In my opinion the LR4 is far more superior. I have no rattles (knock on wood) and the new 2016 discovery had many rattles and squeaks and just didn't seem to be a Land Rover.

But I am happy to be back in my LR4 and glad it was all covered with out a fight.
