ProClip mount works nicely with a magnetic mount- you can set the mount toward the top right edge. Depending on how you position the steering wheel and the size of the phone, it could come close to the wiper stalk, but I don't have an issue with my iPhone 6+.

Thanks for the photo, that is helpful. It looks like the base and the magnet create enough front-to-back clearance that you can turn your phone to landscape mode without hitting any part of the dash over the speedo. Is that true? When it's in l'scape mode can you see the left side of the phone display without any extra effort? Your wheel is in roughly the position I use also. Thanks again. PS: My wife is a huge U of M fan; lifelong! She cried tears of joy when they announced Harbaugh's hiring a few years ago!

Not sure the iPhone6+ would work in landscape mode, may depend on how you position it. I use my phone for nav regularly (haven't turned on the LR built-in nav since the week I took delivery - utterly useless), but have become accustomed to using it in portrait mode. I position the phone as high as possible with the magnet, and the steering wheel doesn't interfere with my view of the screen. Go Blue!

The Proclip looks ideal for portrait mode in that position on the upper dash; minimal interference with the vent flow it appears. Also nice and high and closer to eye height for easy glances. For some reason I prefer my nav in landscape mode but may have to rethink that, too.

Hi. How does the ProClip attach to the dashboard? Is this via an adhesive tape? Is it pretty solid? How hard to remove it needed?

ProClip systems come in two parts. You choose a vehicle-specific base that is designed to snap into certain seams and gaps in your dash area. These come with adhesive pads but the tolerances are so tight that many people don't use the adhesive. The 2nd part is the mounting clip that is compatible with your phone model. This attaches to the base with screws and can be attached in a variety of ways depending on your preferences.

Check out the ProClipUSA website and their youtube channel to see it in action. It's a premium product with great fit and finish, as close to custom as you can get. For the two pieces that I would need for my LR4, it would run about $70.

Both CD-mount phone brackets arrived today ($17 Koomus Pro Series and the $10 MPOW Grip Pro 2).

I like them both. Good build quality in each design. Once installed they perform almost identically from a driver's view standpoint. Even though the MPOW has a bit of a neck to its design, it doesn't hold the phone significantly higher than the Koomus.

Both of them accommodate my medium thickness wallet case setup, if barely. The MPOW is a bit more structurally involved but once mounted and with phone inserted, you can't see much of it anyway.

Neither design obstructs access to dash controls or blocks any vents or the view of the analog clock. I wish both had better range on the limits of their ball joints. A few more degrees of up/down and L/R tilt would make for a slightly better viewing angle.

I will probably use the MPOW for starters. The grasping surfaces are not under permanent tension. You place your phone on the mount and squeeze the sides in to lock around the edges of your case. You release your phone by pressing a small button and the grabbers slowly retract. This means that one hand operation is easier with the MPOW. I also want to give a nod to the MPOW marketers who came up with the tagline on the packaging: "Our comfortable service is available for your any requirement." How can you not support that?

I'm happy with these products and will keep them both. I will post a few photos if anyone is interested.
