Does everyone else think that in either D or S mode the Rover still shifts early in the RPMs.
I also feel that anything below 1900 RPM makes our LR4s sluggish.

Probably not going to mess with the transmission program while the vehicle in under warranty... ;-)

BUT does anyone have experience with changing the program or know of aftermarket programs that are out there?

Do our vehicles have the same engine/tranny as some Jaguar models... that brand might have a more aggressive transmission program?

For now I'll stick to the paddle-shifters... thought I was ask anyways and hear y'all thoughts.

Peace.

It's an adaptive transmission. It learns and actively adjusts shifting patterns based on your driving style (supposedly.) I find mine to be just about perfect, both in regular and in Sport modes. Then again, I have a different engine and transmission than you do, so my experience doesn't count when applied to a 2016 with the SCV6 engine and 8-speed tranny. You can ask a dealer to reflash your transmission for a nominal fee (or you can do that yourself if you own a diagnostic tool such as IIDTool) if you'd like to start "teaching" your driving style again from scratch. That won't void any warranties. Or, just keep revving it up more aggressively for a few days - the transmission should eventually adapt and shift more to your liking.

No issues with our '15, I think it does very well, flatlands or steep passes. I only use the manual shifting option when going down steeper grades to get more engine braking.
