Hello All!
My first post to the forum so please be gentle…

2007 L322 (Full Fat Range Rover), Diesel V8.

TL;DR version:
Sunroof will open normally but won't close, pressing “close” gives “open a little bit more,” pressing “tilt" does nothing, there is power, and no physical jam. New switch installed. Tried holding to reset, no luck.

Full Version:
The sunroof will open all the way if I hold the switch on “open." Pressing switch to “close" causes the sunroof to lurch OPEN (?!) a bit more, like a stutter step but not continuous movement, and holding “close" does nothing further after this. The "tilt" button doesn’t tilt, in fact no noise from the motor/relay at all when pressing “tilt” except when held down for reset (see below)
No matter what I press on the switch the sunroof opens but will not close. DTC "0X007E - sliding roof switch or connections - defective” is showing.

I’ve tried the following all to no avail:
- Checked fuse, OK (obvs)
- Checked power to switch & motor, full 13V
- Changed switch to a brand new one, same thing is happening on both old and new switches
- Done sunroof reset by holding the “tilt” button until the motor clicks, but then we’re back to the situation above
- Also tried the reset by holding “close,” holding “tilt” releasing and holding again until 2nd click, and basically every variation of holding buttons down till the motor clicks and sunroof should reset, but nothing works.
- Removed the motor and slid the sunroof shut by hand... the worm drive will turn freely as I do this so I know it's not physically stuck.

My only thought is that the ECU in the sunroof motor has gone demented? Is this plausible? Should I just splash out for a new sunroof motor and hope for the best? Any help would be appreciated please…
Many Thanks

Sounds like the limit switch may be bad.
