Hello all,

My new LR4 came with 20 inch (20 x 8.5) wheels which is Style 510. I am planning to swap them with the standard 19 inch (20 x 8) wheels/Style 703.

My question is, is the wheel width (8.5 vs 8 inches) difference between the two going to make any difference?

Does LR put any spacers at the factory to make up for that 0.5 inch difference? If not then how is the wheel track width (which is exact to the fraction: 63.2/front, 63.5/rear) maintained?

Thanks.

There are no spacers. You worry too much. :) As long as the wheel offset is the same, front and rear tracks don't change, regardless of how wide the rim itself is.

You may want to hang onto those 20" wheels. I just put a set of Michelin Premier LTX tires on a set of 20" rims and the ride quality and handling are excellent. (For a 3 ton vehicle) What an improvement over the worn 19" Cooper Zeon beach tires.

:) I do sometimes indeed, I just like things to be up to the tested factory specs as much as possible :)

Thanks, Paul.

I am actually just a teeny bit concerned about the above. I am really loving the smooth ride quality of my week old LR4 with 20 inchers. But I am hoping that laws of physics will be true here and going to 19 inch wheels (with factory contis) with more sidewall will actually give me a more comfortable and smother ride quality over the 20 inch wheels. Or does that extra 0.5 inch width (not the diameter) of the 20 x 8.5 wheels vs the 19" wheels' lesser "8" inch width make all the difference?
