I was planning on adding a second battery with National Luna dual-battery system for my fridge and planned LED lighting until I discovered this

Second pic is the primary battery

Does anyone know what the amp hour capacity is of this second battery?

I doubt it's anything usable, just judging by its dimensions my little daughters' pink Barbie Jeep appears to have a more capable battery that that.

Seriously, that auxiliary battery is solely used for keeping things running for short intervals when Stop / Start is active, so the main battery isn't affected when your engine stops running instead of idling at an intersection, for example. I wouldn't rely on it as a deep cycle source of power for other devices you may be thinking about, such as a fridge, which may not draw a lot of juice but needs steady voltage available for potentially long stretches of time.

By the way, is Land Rover still using those mediocre Varta flooded batteries as primaries, or have they finally switched to AGM? Can't tell from your picture.

Funny. I finally had a LR rep visit my house this last week (I'm not sure if this is something unique to just my dealer, or if it's SOP for LR), to go over any questions I may have after having the vehicle for a month or so. Anyway, I asked the same question as I had wired my LED lighter to the aux battery. He told me it is exactly what Umberto describes above, it's to support the stop/start feature. I probably need to rewire my lighter at some point.

I'm now rethinking my approach for an appropriate rated auxiliary battery for fridge and ???. Odyssey may have the answer. Still need to find a place suitable within the truck. Not much room left with dual air cleaners and aux battery in engine compartment.

I think I remember owners on a different forum found enough space in the trunk / boot area, on the side behind the LH trim panel. Not sure if the panel itself required modification or not, I'll see if I can find the thread. The engine bay is pretty much sold out with that auxiliary battery installed, bummer.

Hello - Regarding battery replacements, do I have to reset the battery management system (BMS) after changing replacing the primary and the auxiliary (ECO Start/Stop) battery - even if they're changed at different times? If I replace both at the same time, no problem, I understand. But as I review the GAP Tool owner's manual, there isn't much info for this feature. The tool simply allows you to reset the BMS. Easy do if there's just one battery. But with two...hmmm. What am I missing? Thanks!
