Once they moved to the V8 and subsequent SCV6 both with dual air intakes, snorkels were out anyway. This just puts a nail in the coffin so to speak.

The oem snorkel wasn't watertight anyway so the fording depth didn't increase. They were made to suck cleaner air in dusty conditions.

Anyone else here thinking about bubble-wrapping a new LR4 for the next 15 - 20 yrs, then either driving it or selling it for 2x's current value. If they still made them with a V8, I would seriously do this. This new concept is junk. If I wanted an Explorer, I would just buy an Explorer. LR has lost its way. The best compliment I can give this CAR is that it is a mini-version of an LR sport (another explorer knock off) - again which no one on this site wants. They should advertise the new disco on a Pampers diaper forum. Wrong demographics here.

We are trying to "bubble wrap" my wife's 2013 LR4...just 18K miles on it after 3 1/2 years. Thankfully she works about 10 miles from home.

You've got the right year model for it imo. I've got the '12 with too many miles for that now.

Right with you...last year I replaced my LR3 with a used 2013 LR4 with just 10K miles on it. (I didn't like what they did to the 2015 LR4) Now I've got 50K miles on it after one year.

I've had the same genius idea of looking for another 2013 and storing it. I probably won't. I have zero interest in what LR is showing us going forward.

I last had the idea in 1993 with a Defender 110 and didn't do that either...too bad on that one, could have made a mint! (of course, had I bought it, I would have driven the crap out of it and it would have rusted to the ground by now)

50K in one year! And I thought I was going through the miles fast when I hit 55K after 2 years. Hopefully most of these are "fun" miles. At that pace you have maybe 3 more years. Maybe 4. Who knows what will be available then. But it seems like nearly all of the manufacturers are on a similar path as LR.

Mine has under 23k in 3 years and is bound to see less than 5k/year from now on. 2013 (V8) HSE LUX with HD pkg & Black design pkg (Corris Gray over Arabica). I'd like to think it will hold its value well, no plans on selling it (ever?). It will basically be a pinch hitter (family trips, bad winter weather, etc). Zero issues or accidents. Drives & looks like new still. But it will continue to get used, so it probably won't be collector quality years from now.
