I've been a fan of the rugged Land Rovers for a long time. Lurking around this site and seeing all the good adventures (some more than others) people where having gave me the bug.
So after much debating, we've decided to take the plunge and add this 2010 HSE to our family. So far, it's been everything I'd expected. Only time will tell what kind of LR owner I'd be.
I'm hoping to find some places around Houston to get some practice before embarking on some road/trail trips with the family. Any local groups on here?

After having it for two days, I've Plasti-Dipped the grill, vents, lettering, and wheels.

Next on the list:
Change fluids (it's got 78K miles)
Roof rack
Roof top tent

Future:
Wheels and tires
Lift rods
Hidden winch
On and on....

for the plastidip..I'm thinking of doing the same for my wheels.

But I'm curious as to how strong the bond is...

At the moment my rims are off the car without tyres.

So I can either plastidip them now (easier and quicker) - before getting tires mounted and balanced but risk the tire shop chipping the black off..

Or

Waiting until the tires are on and then do it.

What would you do?

The bond is good. But the paint is flexible and can be pulled off. The tire shop would definitely scratch it up. I would just paint after the tires have been mounted.
I used painters tape torn into 3-4" strips to follow the curvature between the rim and tire. I do two wheels at a time and alternate spraying between them which gives enough time for the coats to set. Spray 4 to 5 coats. Even the back and inside of the wheel. I find that spraying from the back ensures that all angles are covered. After you're done with the final coat and are happy with the work, pull the tape off while the paint is still "soft". Makes it easier and prevents the paint from sticking too much to the tape peeling off.
As a side note, I don't know how well the counter balancing weight would stick to plasti dip. I know the tire shop always scrub the area where they're going to tape the weights with solvent.

Well, it's been a week since I've had the car. It's been pretty impressive.
Smooth and comfortable ride. Excellent visibility.

Only a few complaints...
Burnt through a tank of gas already.
Steering too sensitive at high speed.
Accidentally found out that I've got the door lock actuator problem where one of the doors won't lock.

Will the dealership do some service bulletins if I don't have the extende warranty (didn't buy from LR dealership)?
