Hi All..

After 3 years as the family vehicle my LR4 2010 is now mine to take offroad..so I've been reading up on these threads with great interest.

I've just found a used set of LR3 18" 10 spoke wheels which I plan to fit with 1.25" spacers and follow umbertob's lead and fit them with 285/60R18 Nitto Terra G2s

My concern is with the spacers - as they are wider tires - are they going to stick out beyond the fender line and look 'boy racer' and also is there likely to be more rubbing with fender edge?

Anyone have a similar setup?

The 30mm spacers with that width tire should end up just about flush but will look a little wider. The truth is they will 'look' awesome.

Just know that with the spacers, the tire will contact the inside of the rear upper fender liner at full articulation. The tire diameter should keep you safe from all but the worst contact against the fender liner bulge in the rear.

Thanks.. I think I'll stay safe with 265/65s.. I'm not ready to start trimming yet.

Diving in head first with my 2016 LR4 with many planned upgrades

First off, new wheels and tires

I had a moment earlier today to check fitment with one of my Compomotive 18 inch wheels. I borrowed a spare Duratrac 275/65R18 from my LR3 collection. The tire has roughly 8,000 miles on it and measures 31" diameter. Fitment was without Johnson Rods (still in package). Rear tire, slight rub at front along plastic fender liner. Front tire, slight rub at frame horn and front fender trim when full lock (don't have this problem with my LR3 using Sasquatch Rods). With my LR3 I had to relocate the heater lines at right rear fender well and trim body joint at both rear fender wells. May have to do this with my LR4...

wow.. the wheel looks huge in comparison to stock.

I wonder whether there is anywhere that compares actual diameter of tires across brands.
For example at one size eg. 275/65/18 .. Are KO2s bigger than Duratracs?

Did anyone start that Google sheet so people can contribute and compare notes?

Yeah, that 275/65/18 is technically a 32.1" tire, not a 31" tire. With 0.56" of tread it would technically have to be bald to be 31". I think there are variances between tires of the "same size" as some have mentioned more rubbing than others when using 285/60/18 or 265/65/18. But I think the differences would be fairly small, like 0.1" or 0.2" at most and any minor rubbing issues would be mostly when new (at max tread).

Installed BFG TA KO2 ( 265/65/18). No more vibration. The ride is smooth, and very quiet. I was able to use my DiscountTire "warranty certificate" for two tires so ended up paying for three.
As for now I set up front to 47PSI and rear to 55PSI. If this will feel too stiff I will deflate 2 PSI. TA KO2s look amazing. Looking at sidewall tread design it should be more durable then the 1st generation. I did not have a chance to try them off road yet.

I was checking out recent prices of the Compos PD1881 from online suppliers. The current Pound / Dollar exchange rate works in US customers' favor, big time. Performance Alloys is advertising these wheels for just over $300 after £/$ conversion, plus shipping from the UK, which adds another 65 bucks per wheel approximately. Still not cheap by any means, but compared to the nearly $500/ea I paid to get these wheels over 3 years ago, that's a nice 25% discount, courtesy of... Brexit? https://www.performancealloys.com/wheel-details.aspx?ID=5065
Any experience ordering from them? Just curious how well they handle any possible shipping damage. Was only about $100 saving over ordering from JohnsonRods as of today. Not sure who supports their customers the best - it is offputting that Johnson Rods is text only for contacting them.
