Past week I've noticed a small oily spot under the LR3...about an 1.5" in diameter. Coming from the middle of it. I just got under it and the crossmember that runs between the transfercase and the transmission pan has a wet spot on it, but both the tcase and trans pan look completely dry. And it hasn't leaked for a few days.

Any ideas?

Haven't had it serviced...would you happen to have a pic or link about that part? Thanks!

Mine has never had the trans done with 150k on it. Think this will cause an issue having new fluid in there? No issues now. How much fluid will come out with the pan drop?

I never had a leak. I did it because I did not want to have a leak or a trans shift issue after 100K. These trans need a change of fluid at btw 65-75K. Even when you do a full trans service the most amount of trans fluid you get out its about 5 to 6 qts. There is still fluid in there and it gets filled up to whatever will fit back. Check all the hoses connecting to the trans and TC, but more likely the leak is coming from the sleeve. Majority of people sale the LR3's when they know they have to pay to do the major service (trans, diff & TC or fix the rear diff).

Alright. I was worried that a full service= reverse flushing trans= all new fluid. I'm less worried if about 50% of the fluid will be new.

Finally got into the shop and.......the culprit was a leaky oil filter.

I had the same issue earlier this year with an OEM oil filter. Started leaking for no reason about 4,000 miles thousand miles after installation.
