I am NEW to the forum. 2006 Range Rover. I just attempted to give a jump to someone with a dead battery. Followed the standard procedures, but did get a spark and some smoke from my battery connection after hooking up. Now, I get a Charging System Fault warning that will not go away. I have been driving with no problems for 24 hours. Any suggestions about what to do before taking it to the dealer?

Happen to know what the code is? BMS fault perhaps? Maybe a BMS reset would fix it. Let us know what you find out.

I do not have a code reader yet. I will stop by my local auto parts shop and buy one if they can't do it for me. My concern is that my alternator might be on the fritz.

Code is B11DB. There is wire hooked up at the negative (black) pole that looks just a little fried with copper exposed. Not sure what this is or if it could be the culprit.

So this is really weird... I jump started someone with a dead battery last week also... and now my alternator seems to be dead.

I get a little spike of just under 14v on engine start, but then the voltage drops back to 12.4 levels. I get nothing from the alternator after that. My LR4 is not throwing any codes.

I guess we shouldn't be helping people out. I might buy a lithium jump pack for the future.
