The glove box lamp socket is held in place by two plastic clips, one around the on/off push button and one just to the right of the button. After dropping the glove box to the service position, you can release both clips with your fingertips, then you have to wiggle the loose socket a little bit back and forth, left and right behind the plastic panel to get it to line up and fall down through the opening to access the bulb. Patience needed. The wiring is long enough and does not need to be disconnected, which means you probably want to do this about 10 minutes after opening the doors and glove box, so the bulb has turned off and cooled down and you don't burn your fingers while attempting to dislodge it from up there. I used a small screwdriver to gently pry the old bulb out of the socket (not enough room to grab the glass with my big fat fingers and pull it out), then just pushed the LED bulb in the socket. Repeat in reverse to reinstall, line up and push both clips through their respective holes until they click in place. It helps to have Cinderella hands, but it's not a very difficult process.

However, my front doors LEDs wouldn't turn on, no matter how many times I opened and closed the doors, locked and unlocked them, started and stopped the engine. Go figure, but I had to put the old incandescent ones back on. Everywhere else - rear doors included - the LEDs work great. Oh well, I have a 2013 as well. Maybe some LEDs are more forgiving than some others.

Thanks! I will try that tonight on the gbox. As for your troubles with the front door puddle lights, I recall clearly with my 2011 RRS that it behaved exactly the same as my 2016 LR4 did now; where they initially did not light up (when I replaced the halos with the LEDs). But I simply had to close the doors, LOCK the car, unlock, start up the engine, and then if it's the passenger front door in question, I just go open it, and voila. If it's the driver door (which already got opened because I had to for starting the engine), I just close it again while the car's running, open it, and voila.

SO yes, 100% absolutely correct that LR's circuitry in these models (at the very least the 2010-2013 RRS and 2010-2016 LR4) are the same in which there's something unique to the front door puddle lights. But I overcame it as described both times. No hair pulling ;)

Sadly I stand corrected. Just like the OP, I too am experiencing trouble with the front door puddles.

They work, but it's just that they don't come on unless the engine is on, and only AFTER its on when you open the front door(s), do they light up. Then, if you shut the engine off, open the door, they are on, but only momentarily. Then I think they fade out.

What the...?

My '11 at the time, came with puddle lights as well as the front head light 'welcome'. It went for a rear brake recall and they must have completed a software update because it would never turn on puddle lights or welcome headlights again when I licked or unlocked the truck. This was around the summer of 2013.

My '13 never had the puddle lights work either.

Welp, thread resurrection time.

Just installed LEDs throughout my MY15 LR4.

While the bulbs are directional, they all worked great except for the front driver and passenger door puddle lights. I've locked, unlocked, started, left running, open, closed; all of which have not flipped the lights on.

It's annoying that the rear doors work great while the fronts wont respond.
I guess I'll try more things tonight, but after trying what I have already I don't hold onto much hope.

I'm trying to prepare myself that the mirror puddle lights with the LR4 silhouette will be enough if I can't get the door lights to work. I couldn't stand having incandescent lights in only the front doors. I'd rather it be dark...

I have a LR4 2012 HSE LUX and I did replace all the interior lights using LED ones and got the same issue, the front puddle lights didn't work, I did a research first before installing LED lights and knew the issue so I left the front ones for last to replace. At first one side was working and then after I replaced the other side, both sides stop working, I tried the lock and unlock thing, also with the engine running and it didn't work, lights were funny first because for couple minutes one side worked and then stop. I did put back the old bulbs on the front only and did the lock and unlock so they are working know. I have all LEDs working inside except for the front puddle ones.

I may try ordering some different LEDs, but I'd rather depend on the mirror puddle lights than have any incandescent lights.

Mine obviously still aren't working. More concerned about 2 of my compo wheels that are still in Kentucky while 3 are here at my local UPS at the moment.

Once I get those mounted I'll go back to researching what to get/do.
