Hi all, I recently had a heated windshield installed, I had the plugs on the a pillar to do so, then I ordered the hvac control with the heated windshield button, I then put fuses in the 2 spots for the heated windshield, however, I lacked the relay for it. So I used the relay for the rear AC (since I don't have rear ac), is there anything else I have to do to use the heated windshield? The other day it was cold and turned on both heated windshield and heated rear window, the rear window cleared up but not the windshield. Maybe there is an additional plug somewhere I'm missing?

Did a shop do the install? Or are you retrofitting a new windshield in?

Retrofitting, a glass company did the install, connected everything to the windshield, I got the new ac control, but now I think it has something to with the heated seat module.

Just got back troubke shooting mine. The passenger side would work but not the drivers side.

I first thought connectors would be under windshield so I removed the front cowel and wipers. Don't do that. The only connected item there is for the wiper motor.

I then went to where the fuses /battery is located. Looked around and saw a two wire connector (brown/green)brown connector disconnected. Must have been disconnected by accident when the battery was changed. Plugged that in tight.

Went to pillar on driver side. One hex screw. There are two ribbon cables. The one closest to windshield was not connected. Went to plug that in and it sparked a little. Releazied that I had the windshield heater on. Turned it off and secured it.
Haven't tested it to see if fully functional because it's a warm day here in NYC.

What I did notice, when I do turn the system on, it definitely draws some heavy amperage. My rpm dips a little. Stabilizes after a second.

I saw on other forums that dealerships would replace the two 30amp fuses to 40amp. I did that a week ago trying to trouble shoot the system.

Hope that helps.

I'm interested in where to find the ribbon cables, and connectors. I saw in the A pillar two female connectors with large wire, with nothing plugged in. Not sure where the ribbon cables are. Also exactly where the wires lead into the battery compartment-- any additional details you can share will be appreciated... Thanks for posting this stuff. I have a heated windshield fitted, ordered a new hvac control, and that's about all I have done besides look in the passenger side a pillar.

In the engine behind the battery there's a harness, bundle of wires. There a pair with a connector that splits off. Just two wires with a connector. That was unplugged on my end.

In the truck, there the pillar with the airbag. Remove the plastic cover and it's a torx screw. The whole cover comes off. In the previous post photo, the ribbon connect is the orange flat ribbon type. It has a silver slip connector (a little d clip) look for an hard plastic recepticle with metal receiver. I attached a photo maybe you can see it. It was disconnected. I just looked at the other ribbon orange one and followed it the same.

Hope this helps.
