Hello everyone, trying to sort this out. Occasionally when I throw the truck into reverse, I get the dreaded long tone and flashing park distance malfunction. Other times it just works perfectly.
I first thought it was one of the 4 sensors. All sensors work when the unit works.

I am either thinking its either 1 of 2 things. Wire harness rubbing contact issue? The actual park distance module going out.

I would take apart the rear bumper skin and trace the wire harness but its winter here in NYC. Should I just bite the bullet and order the module and replace it?

Any thoughts to brainstorm on?

Thanks in advance.

It is fairly common for the harness to rub at the passenger side rear corner of the bumper. Once it warms up, pull the bumper and check. Sometimes you can splice the harness, but offten times corrosion is visible in multiple spots, in which case you will just end up replacing the entire harness anyway.

Thanks catman!
I ordered the module from eBay. It's should arrive today. Going to tackle that his weekend. If that's not the culprit, unfortunately the rear Bumper skin is coming off. I've seen the harness for sale and it isn't too bad in price.

Thanks again

Update. It wasn't the module and the wires all looked great. Just ordered all new sensors (about 50 for all 4).

A couple of things I've noticed when removing panels etc.

The park distance control module is behind the left rear panel right behind the second row seat. There's a screw behind a cover. The rest of the panel pulls out. I would suggest doing it from the door opening since the module sits right there.

Bumper removal was fine and easy. Except for one rusted screw lower left corner of bumper. I just left that on.

To get to the wire harness under the bumper skin you will need to remove the barrier foam. You'll need to pop off the imbedded step groves to access three screws. This releases the foam. Behind the foam is where the wire harness rest.
I was under the impression that the harness was attached to the frame of the truck hence why possible rubbing/short may have been present. It's very well insulated. I checked all the connections.

My only guess now are the sensors. They do look a little beat up with some searches.
Need to phone a friend to hold the brake in reverse so I can hear them click. Pdc won't engage with the electronic brake engaged. Also I am not sure since I'm getting the blinky light, if the sensor would activate?
