My 2015 LR4 has the check engine light on. Using my OBII code reader I get the code P0089 which I believe is the fuel pump. Has anyone had problems with this. I just a little over the 24k mileage mark so it is still under warranty. Thanks for any input.

2015 LR4, around 41k miles - My engine light came on about a week ago. Had it towed in, they checked the codes, ran some tests, said it checked out fine. Their notes state: "eng light is not on at this time. Pulled code for low fuel pressure on fuel system low pressure side. Checked kids. No issues at this time. Checked for leaks none found. Cleared codes and will see if it returns."Sent it back to me. The very next day, engine light comes back on. I drive it in, they do some investigating. Not sure what the codes were, but they told me they had to drop the fuel tank, and the codes are indicating that the fuel pump has a problem. They're replacing it. It's still in repair at the moment, will update when I know more.

Just curious, how low do you allow your fuel to go?

I finally got my LR4 back today after two and a half weeks in the shop. First they installed a couple of sensors and the fault would not clear. To clear the fault a new low pressure fuel pump and sender was installed in the gas tank. I have never let the gas drop much below a quarter empty. I had a loaner for the complete time, LR treated me good.
I did see a new Discovery at the dealer. It was there because they are going to show it at the Cleveland auto show next week. If I make it to the show I will take some pictures. It is not a bad looking vehicle in person. The comments that it looks like the rest of the SUV's being built today are correct. I do think it is a bit smaller than the LR4, the 3rd row seats were up so I couldn't tell if the storage was as big. The rear lower control arms are aluminum, and this one didn't seem to have a trailer hitch receiver. It was a diesel, no running boards. One of the salesmen said he drove one in Arizona and it handled better than the LR4 off road. The leather seemed nicer than what I have in my LR4.

There have been some posts concerning problems with the fuel system possibly caused by running out of fuel. It is thought that you might pick up some dirt or water from the bottom of the tank although I believe they have the fuel pick-up above the bottom of the tank so not to pick up any debris. Also I believe I have read in the manual don't let the vehicle run empty. I don't know if the air in the line will cause a problem. I do know on my Disco the low fuel light came on one time and I did run out of gas. I made a bad assumption thinking I had about 50 miles of fuel remaining and I ran out about 15 mile later. Luckily I only had about a mile to walk to a station.

Isn't the fuel pickup always getting gas from the bottom of the tank?
