Long time lurker, great thread. Anyone have experience going with 255/65R18 or 255/70R18? I'm looking to get the extra sidewall without the extra width and associated MPG, road handling, snow performance.

Also, anyone running 265/60R18 or 265/65R18 on a near stock configuration (no roof racks, 500+ lbs of skids or IID / Rod lift etc) care to chime in on how much of a MPG hit you found going from stock to this wheel size? The KO2 sounds awesome but 51lbs vs my current all season 35lbs seems like it will have a huge impact on MPG, handling, and wear.

Thanks!

I'm running 265/60r18 on a fully stock weight LR4(for now).

And while it may not be immediately helpful, I have no idea about the MPG.

I haven't owned high-performance imports for almost ten years because I wanted to save at the pump. MPG was just never a priority.

That said, I have my first 100+ mile freeway journey on the new KO2s tomorrow. I'll track them then and let you know.

We're running 265 60 18 BFG KO's, Wife gets 11 mpg during her 10 mile "city" commute work. I've seen about 20 mpg on some road trips, not bad there.

They aired them to 34psi which looked low to me and felt a little spongey. I aired all (front & back) up to 45psi which felt a bit tighter. I'll experiment over the coming days with pressures.

First impressions based on a 5 mile journey back home are that it feels even more like my old Jeep XJ than it did before and, I think, it feels a little less floaty than with the 20" stock rims and tyres. Maybe a little less refined I suppose, which is what I had expected.

love everyone's setup w/ the compomotive wheels and bfg's! my question is this: can you get into garages? california, at least in the city, a lot of the parking is done in parking garages with limited height clearance. i'd love to finally get into a lr4 and would want to do this exact setup. any advice is greatly appreciated.

The 265/60R18 which is what I now run will make your roof precisely a quarter inch higher than stock. I doubt if that will make a major difference to anything.

The 265/65R18 will leave your roof three quarters of an inch higher than stock.

I also used the GAP IID tool to add a cheeky one inch lift to mine but that was very much optional and not needed for the wheels. I'll see if that causes any problems in and around London garages which I'm sure have maximum headroom equal to or less than garages in California.

So, I am on 265/65 compos... and I have an IID tool, but I have not touched the air suspension with the tool yet at all. When you added the 1" lift.. how much does that throw off your camber? I know when I just have it in normal off road height I get some serious positive camber.

So.. are your wheels off camber enough to wear the tires un evenly? This is the whole thing for me on running around with a lift (or lowered) ... you mess with the camber. Do people just ignore that and hope for the best or are people actually getting alignments and changing where they are in spec?
