Thanks, @namenda......I do like the automated drive sensors/features that it has. They are all pretty common on a lot of cars, but it's nice to see them here on the LR...but man are they pricey options!

More exterior sensors to override/defeat when adding accessories? Feels like the D5 and newer vehicles are going to be a PIA on that front. Maybe impossible. Which is a deal breaker for many.

Still don't see a use for remote control folding seats. It means you have to clear the seats in anticipation of using that feature? Ah, sure.

Hadn't thought of that. Good point for offroad enthusiasts. I think we have already clarified that is no longer the market for these vehicles. :(

That's exactly what I said to him! "Do you know anybody who has their seats clear of debris for a remote seat fold?"

His response was that it will be certainly easier than having to reach in and push and pull on handles. I was going to remind him that they also have a button in the car you can push, which is certainly WAY easier than unlocking your phone, opening an app, syncing it with the car, going to the right menu, select fold, acknowledge selection, etc.... :D But sometimes you just have to realize it isn't worth the energy.

they've made quite a mess of getting into the 3rd row as well. I saw one a bit ago in LA. Unfortunately, you can't remove the middle seat in the 2nd row like I did with our 2015. For the second row, the right side and middle are one seat, so if you have 3 kids all in seats, you are totally screwed as the mini bench has to come up or you have to load your kids on the traffic side, something no parent wants to do.

I can't understand why they don't make that middle seat removable effectively creating second row captains. It's sooooo much easier in that config and makes the interior seem huge.

Poor form if they are looking to attract soccer moms if you ask me.

When approaching an open tailgate you are always looking down. I am hoping you can override that auto lowering feature a well. I'm also 6'2" and think the LR4 tailgate height is perfect. We had a Q7 and I used to bash my head on that tailgate all the time.

That 2 seat bench design in the LR5 is an annoyance for me as well. As soon as I saw that, I figured it was just a money saving decision. 3 independent 2nd row seats that can all fold flat independently is ideal. I have not removed my center seat (I do keep the headrest off, blocks the view) but my center seat is folded flat 99% of the time. It is so much easier for gear and family...

...the dog rides in the back and she can lay between the two kids. Plus, I will often have long gear in the back (snowboards and surfboards) and the fold flat middle seat let's me slide them right in, between the two kids who are sitting on the outside seats. What's the point of having 6' of interior load storage if it isn't usable?

Agreed!
Although, being 6'2" (like me) have you ever hit your head on the center metal loop on the LR3/4 lift glass? Holy heck that hurts. This is usually avoided, but when I have gear on the roof the lift glass sometimes gets stopped a little lower. Ouch.

Yes, when it's really cold, the tailgate struts don't slide as well and the tailgate doesn't open all the way up. That metal loop does hurt!

I wonder if the new D5 can handle bunk bed (twin top/full bottom) with mattresses in box. Haha

My dealer in the Bay Area called and said they'd have one for display only this weekend. We are in the market for a usable 3rd row vehicle and will likely go ahead with our order, seeing as all the reviews have been stellar, despite the concerns over the looks. Our delivery estimate is looking like early July, barring delays.

Wondering what color folks thinks looks least terrible?

I suggest you try lurking around the Disco 5 UK site. I'm not sure if linking other forum sites is allowed here. Several new owners have been discussing their experience the Discovery. One forum member, less than 2 weeks into ownership, is already experiencing the dreaded electronic glitches that the dealer can't seem to fix.
