@tiedflies -- Are you suggesting a wire for charging seperate from the 7 pin or just a different wiring harness than the OEM wiring ?

P.S. Like the handle. I'd be whipping out some caddis if I didn't have this little wiring project to tackle.

I ran a 6/8ga wire to a fuse block and through a Blue Sea ACR that was routed under my LR4 to the power pin on the 7-pin connector. See this chart for voltage drop/wire size requirements. Total wire length is on the order of 25'. The stock wire gauge is small, 16 or even 18 ga? Too much voltage drop to correctly charge a trailer battery.

I agree with mpinco, I used number 8 wire that now comes off an auxiliary battery from the engine bay. Spliced into the Atlantic British wiring harness.

Hi,
I suspect that you must be from USA. If your vehicle was to UK specification there would be two harnesses and sockets. One is called 12N and is a 7 pin plug which operates all the road lights on the trailer. We use a separate 7pin socket called 12 S this has connections for Battery charging, fridge (icebox to you) a live feed, separate earth, a couple of spares and one for reversing lights/reversing systems.
The US style electric trailer brakes are nor used here only over-run brakes.

To complicate matters there is a 13 pin europe standard which has all the above except duplicate earth! My caravan has this so I have to use an adapter for the caravan whilst the trailer has the twin system. Isn't standardisation great!

Installed today. Super simple and worked just as described. Until it didn't!

Interior plugs don't fit. Slightly off sized and can't make the connections. I have emailed roverparts for assistance. Oddly the part number and all the pieces lined up right on spec for the LR4. Hoping they will just email back a painfully obvious oversight by me and it slides right together.

I just installed their kit this past weekend and everything plugged right in. Is it possible that you're using the wrong connections behind the taillight? They should be connected to dummy plugs from the factory, not the ones that actually go to the taillight as you'd use on many other vehicles where the kit goes in-line.

@JWA33 thanks for the suggestion. I will have to check again this evening but I didn't see, to have any other choices for plugs. But I certainly hope it's just my idiocy creating the problem.

The dummy plugs are attached to brackets and they're a bit more towards the top and rear of the cavity than the ones for the tail lights. When you remove them from the brackets you then remove the dummy plugs which will have no wires coming out of them.

@JWA33 - I really appreciate the guidance. I am the fool!! Yes, the dummy plug was the issue. It is time for a new work light for me....

Cheers!

The toughest part of the trailer wiring install for me was the part in that side compartment. I got the whole dummy plug thing but getting my hands and tools up there in the necessary angles was a $#i+show!
