Are you sure the Michelin MS/2 is available in a 19" E load? I see that you have an LR3 with 18" I assume? LR4s cannot use an 18" wheel unless one buys very pricey compmotives or uses spacers on a LR wheel. Very few non P r tires in the 19" range. I mean they make XL weight ratings but this is still not a LT tire.

I don't believe they make the ms2 for a 19". I couldn't find it anyway.

I'm very sorry as I apparently missed the 19" issue.

Considering that, yes, the WRG2 SUV or their other similar tire are probably a great choice. Do study the Nokian choices though, they make several 19" rated in the 111+ XL range which is roughly appropriate right? (Yes I just checked)

I would also really consider the Michelin Premier LTX. It's designed to open up the grooves as it wears down which is very cool idea to continue better wet handling through its wear life. It also looks very well siped which is good for snow even though it's not a dedicated winter.

I'm not sure how well they hold up not being an E rated version but I see the Goodyear Duratrac is also available in stock size 255/55-19. It'll hurt fuel economy, won't corner nearly as well at highway speeds, will wear out probably twice as fast or quicker, and will be a bit louder.

Only real benefit is traction in more rugged terrain or deep snow, and I'm not talking forest roads to trail heads. That kind of gravel roads are fine for the above Michelins or the Nokians.

Thanks all, much appreciated. As of now, I could easily see two sets in my future :) One set for sure with the WRG3 and the other with something like the conti TerraContact.

Jwest, the Mich M/S 2 that you are recommending, is this the Latitude or Premier LTX? Or neither.

I listed the tire models, not sure how it could be another model ;)

Just look at their website and you'll see what they all are.
