Hey guys,

This past weekend I went to turn my truck on and noticed the Land Rover logo was frozen on my screen and the radio would not turn on and none of the buttons on the dash or steering wheel would let me control the radeo. So I disconnected the battery for a few minutes and that seemed to fix the issue.

It hasn't happened again until last night. The screen is frozen on Land Rover again and then after a few minutes would turn black and then come back on to the LR screen. So I disconnected the battery again and all was fine. Then this morning it did the same thing.

I've searched around on here and a few other forums and can't really get a solid answer. Some people say it may be the wiring in the front passenger floorbard that could be pinched and some say maybe a fuse is bad (which wouldn't make sense in this case sense the radio will work if i disconnect/reconnect batt) and then finally I've ready where some say the battery could be bad. I just bought it 3 weeks ago and had the battery tested and it was fine.

Does anyone have any ideas?

That happened to me once (I can't recall what caused it). IN my csae the screen went black and it was totally unresponsive. As soon as I got to a red light I shut off the engine and restarted the car. It has been perfect since.

FWIW, I have had a similar glitch in my MY11 LR4, however it is very very sporadic as in 3x in 15 months of ownership. Mine is slightly different. I will get the display for the various radio station presents, but none of them will respond to touch, nor can I change input sources. If it's not playing something I want to hear, I either turn it off or suck it up.
Cycling the power button doesn't work.

I have never disconnected the battery to see if that helps. Too lazy and as mentioned, it hasn't happened often enough to get me to move it from the "It's a Land Rover Thing" category to the "It's a PITA" category. I have tried stopping and restarting my engine and that doesn't help. It just randomly "fixes" itself after a brief tantrum.

Thanks for the help and comments guys. It seems like there isn't a definite "fix" to the issue. I'm going to disconnect the battery when I get home from work tonight for 30 minutes or so and clean the terminals nice and see if that will reset everything.

Also from my research on other forums, I'm going to check into fuse # 53, 58 and 42 and see if any are blown or corroded somehow and I will report back.

It this still doesn't fix it, I guess I will have to take it into the dealership and ask them to perform the software update Umberto provided (thank you!).

If you are still under factory warranty, performing that TSB will be free of charge. If you are not, it's probably going to be on your dime (even the extended / CPO warranty doesn't cover TSBs, AFAIK.) Either way, it looks like just an hour of labor or so to upload the software patch, so it shouldn't hurt too bad. By your description, I don't think it's a fuse or an issue with battery terminals (but worth checking both just in case), it sounds more like the infotainment software hangs during boot-up.

Yea it's a 2010 so not under warranty. I'm going to try and take it by the dealership on Friday if it doesn't magically fix itself by then...

Just an update, I unhooked the battery for about 2 hours yesterday while working on some other things. When I hooked it back up it was still on the Land Rover screen, so I drove around for about 10 minutes and the screen went black and then the radio came back on and everything has worked as normal. I drove it to work this morning as well and no problems. I'll see if it's persistent issue or if it has "fixed itself".
