I just purchased a 2017 Range Rover Sport and about half the time when I approach the vehicle to enter with my key, the warning message Gear Box Not in Park appears in the center of the dash. After about 10 seconds it goes away. No problem starting the vehicle. Does not happen all of the time. Does anyone else experience this and if so, what is the fix? Only 150 miles on my new vehicle. Scheduled to bring to dealer next week. Any insights would be helpful.

Just had the same thing on Range Rover Sport purchased Apr 29 2017. Went into my garage (today, 1st May, 2 days post purchase) without my keys to fetch something from the car. Opened to pinging and the warning display as you noted. Stopped after a few moments.
Would appreciate if you can update with comments from your dealer. Thanks.

Just came from the dealership. Tech guy could not determine the cause. Put in a technical request with Land Rover for some assistance. Anyone with some insight into this issue would love to hear from you.

Thanks everyone.

Going through the process right now. Have the same issue, began the 1st week of ownership. Have taken it to the Dealer 2 times. Service Tech has stated it IS a known problem, but as of yet, Land Rover has no fix for the problem. Separate Dealership has stated the "glitch" has bled int the Navigation system as well.

Advice is to get the attempted service fixes documented by the dealership, and check your state for the applicable "Lemon Law." It is also possible a Deceptive Trade issue could apply IF it can be proven Land Rover sold these vehicles knowing the problem exists.

Either way, it appears each of us has quite a few visits with the Dealer ahead of us.

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing the same thing. Just a few days ago, my warning notice changed to "Gear Shifter Not In Park". I updated my service tech and they are in touch with Land Rover. Let's keep in touch please.

Will do. Have spoken to Service Techs in 2 different cities. Since the vehicles are brand new, Land Rover should replace them at full value, depending on laws in your state, since no known fix exists. Will keep you posted on the progress here.

I just heard from my dealership and Land Rover has informed them that it is a software issue and a fix should be available very soon!

LRNA says possibly June before the software fix will be available. Lemon Law has already been initiated... VERY ******

I dont blame you! It is probably a June timeframe because they have their full staff working on all the new Discovery software bugs. They have a dedicated team in place for the first several months of production to help iron out all the inevitable kinks that come with a new vehicle platform.

Since the RR platform is well established, you would think they could iron this stuff out virtually on the spot when things crop up. Must be a scary time to be a software engineer on the LR team, lots of pressure with all the tech they are trying to add.
