I have a Saris bike rack that works fine in the hitch. I have a 265/65-18 tire up there deflated to 10 psi. Just ignore the warning light on the dash.

Wait you need a tps for the spare?

I've gone three years with no tps in my comp wheels. Finally since I'm getting new tires I bought 4 tps valves.

You need one for the spare?

Yea, I have no TPMS in mine. No plan on it either. Super expensive modules and kind of an idiot guide for tire pressure safety. Most of us here on the LR forum are enthusiasts can manage without. I can understand for soccer moms, etc.

I haven't had it in years but am sick of the light on so I got replacements for my wheels. Just didn't do spare.

The spare wheel has a tire pressure sensor from the factory only if the car came with a full size spare (as part of the HD package, for example.) If it came with a compact donut, the spare wheel is not monitored, so you won't get any TPMS warnings even if you later replace the limited service spare with a full size wheel.

Damn. I had a full size spare as my truck has the hd package. Probably better off buying the tool to shut it off since I will be airing down the spare to get it in.

Any other ideas?

It's really not that annoying to leave the spare tire warning alone if you don't have the tool, the message only stays on for maybe 10-15 seconds each time you fire up the ignition as a gentle "reminder" that your spare tire needs air, then it extinguishes. Nowhere near as annoying as the seat belt chime (which you can also disable, thank goodness...)

I'm personally not experiencing this case. I have HD / full size spare, sitting in my garage, no light. I would be surprised if a HD spec truck also came with an extra receiving sensor. At $50 ea, I'd rather not have extras if I don't need them.
