I agree. Hit 'em hard enough to really reduce your energy, make sure you're in an appropriate gear, and the brakes will perform better. I've only ever used genuine LR pads and rotors and I get 50k+ Miles between changes.

I've used after market only once and those pads and rotors made a lot of noise and since then I've only used "OEM" as in Land Rover label on box rotors and pads from the dealer. My 2007 V8 goes through them pretty quick but can usually get the rotors to last through on pad change. If there is something out there that has better performance braking for safety reasons, doesn't make noise and doesn't wear faster than OEM I'm all about it. Do these ceramic, cross drilled and vented do that? Or the brembo's? Didn't know Bembo were made to fit the LR3. Red brakes would look good on my blacked out rims!

My ride has the original 18's with 32inch KO2's with Johnson rods.

Nobody said Brembo calipers. We have all been discussing rotors and pads. No red for you! LOL

If you're wearing out rotors about as often as pads, you're driving like a dumba$$ IMO ;) I have 130,000 miles now. Getting ready to replace only the 2nd set of rotors now....

Well boys n girls, my rotors weren't made by brembo after all, I forget the name he said, but today Columbia a Rovers in Portland OR said they put these on at 66,000 miles. That's 64,000 miles ago!

Stop driving like dimba$$es or stop complaining about brake wear ;)

Just FYI, the EBC rotors that I ordered came in and did not fit my V6 LR3 as they were too big. I sent them back but decided to keep the EBC Green Stuff brake pads. I also decided to go with a better rotor option and went with these. I will let you know how the combination does, once I put some miles on them.

odd, did you find out if there are different v6 sizes? too big would mean wrong part number sent, not something about the manufacturing necessarily.

Did you get the stoptech direct or what source?

It is a bit complicated but I purchased the EBC rotors through TH Motorsports and they were direct shipped from EBC. TH Motorsports' website said they would fit but they didn't. I received 13.3 in. rotors, part number GD1339, which seem to be for the V8 model. My V6 LR3 requires a smaller 317mm (12.48 in.) rotor. I contacted EBC directly and they told me the part number that I should have been sold was GD1372. However this part number is not sold in the US, only the UK. Not sure if this is the same for everyone because the folks at EBC seemed a bit confused, after providing them with my VIN, at me living in the US and purchasing my vehicle in the US (Maryland). They believe it possibly came from Canada.

I purchased the StopTech rotors through buybrakes.com.

I just talked with Lucky8 and they actually ordered mine direct from UK EBC and confirmed that these are for the NAS spec 4.0 V6. You must've gotten the v8's by accident as that size sounds like the v8 number i recall seeing.

Keep in mind there is actually the v6 tdi which uses larger rotors than our old gas v6. I think you can read about these variations on the mudtech website too.

Thanks everyone for the info on this thread. I’m new to Land Rover and having fun learning about the LR3. I’m getting ready to change rear brake pads (and maybe discs) soon as my first diy project.
