Well, you know, markets might differ, what do I know about that… The Defender is still in production in some corners of the Earth, I believe? Or it was, at least, for some time after they’d shut it down in Europe...

no, Defender ended recently. None of these are "produced in other places" than where they were originally built. It's not like a VW that was built in Mexico for years after. These have special factories and are not simply started up in some other "corner of the earth"

Defender parts will still be madd for a while of course. I think you could effectively have one built by ordering everything !

You can still buy a new Defender in parts of the world. I can go get one locally today, in fact. But yes, they stopped production last year. The new ones for sale, simply are late to market and have not been used.

Saw white D5 diesel at Fort Myers LR sticker 73k HSE. A little disappointed highway miles at 26 mpg, but it will probably get more like 28. I could squeeze about 30 on my 'old' '14 Ram Crew cab eco diesel. Full tank highway miles about 680~

Looks like you can get a rear locker at a semi-reasonable price point, just under 57K.

On the other hand, I see some HSE LUX ones that are just over 85K and somehow 2 managed to show up exceeding $90k, although I am not sure if that is even possible, so it may be a mistake. Top spec Discoveries are getting into FFRR land now....
EDIT: That $56,950 price is the base HSE price, so clearly that is not accurate for the vehicle above, the price would be much higher as it has a bunch of packages on it, but it is an HSE and not a HSE LUX, so at least we can confirm the rear locker is available on both trims.
