Heading up to Asheville to camp the same weekend that they are going to do the owner's event at the Biltmore. Going to attend that while I'm there, anyone else going? Has anyone attended an owner's event at the LR Driving Experience? Wondering if it will be fun...

Just got back from the Land Rover Merriam Off-Road Event.

If you haven't been to one of these, you have to go. Here's the down and dirty:

1. Hanging out with that many Rover Owners is a lot of fun..
2. That many Rovers in one place is a sight to be seen.
3. Man, I had no idea my LR4 could perform like that.

The briefing: Service Bay of the Dealership:

Catered breakfast, outline of the mission, and T-Shirts/goodie bags for the drivers.. We adjourned, and 10 minutes later a convoy of rovers (over half a mile long) was heading south to the proving grounds..

On Deck at Kansas Rocks:

We split into 3 Groups, got some instruction on how to set up the trucks, and headed out.

(Here's Ryanjl making it happen)

The first thing you realize out there is that pictures -cannot- do this stuff justice. If you take a look at bottom of Ryan's front tire, it is almost as high as the TOP of his rear Tire. Try that at Starbucks..

After the crawling/splashing/climbing, we had a catered lunch and raffle prizes.. We all shared stories of the trail, shook hands, and slowly filed out to go clog all the car wash drains in southern Kansas City..

Price for this solid life experience: Free.

The $%&@! Toyota Dealership charges me for coffee when I take the Prius in.

'nuff said. If you haven't done one of these, you are really missing out on what these trucks are, how fun they can be, and who drives them..

I have been to the Biltmore one three times now, had very good experiences each time. The last time we went on some pretty advanced trails/challenges. Lots of instruction regarding techniques, etc. to successfully navigate really challenging stuff. Agree, amazed at what a stock one of these can do on stock tires.....

It's normally the end of June. I haven't heard yet, though.

We have 6-7 JLR dealers in the DC area and I'm not aware of any of them offering anything like this. You'd think that one of them might see it as a way to differentiate but I think it's the opposite dynamic at play. They may think it's not necessary to do it.

The closest is a FB group of Maryland LR owners that I belong to. One of the group admins has exclusive access to a large privately owned property with some great trails. In fact, there's a group ride scheduled for tomorrow morning...but who plans an early morning event for the day after Cinco de Mayo??
