New TSB - different platform RR 2012 - but similar issue:
LTB00111NAS3

lack of lubrication at pinion seal causing noise at steering...
PowerSteering flush - to get lubrication again.
I'm not really hopeful but we'll see....

Did the power steering fluid flush solve your issue?

Yes... Only took months of trips and arguing that the sound wasn't a squeak but a metal to metal grinding...

It was... Steering gear not being lubricated....

Long term...

It WILL cause steering failure as IS dangerous.

Same issue in my 2015 Duramax truck..
Wasn't able to steer right when moving in traffic as the issue worsened.

That was also resolved this year and both vehicles can now freely turn without grinding noises or freezing of turning ability.

Good to know. I just started hearing this sound the other day. It's so slight that if I have my A/C on just halfway I can't hear it, but I imagine it may get worse over time.

Does anyone know how to do a power steering fluid flush on these? I found a video for an LR3 but I read elsewhere that it's not the same for an LR4.

I wound up taking mine to my dealer, in part because I could not find online a definitive way to flush the fluid in an LR4, in part because I wasn't sure what fluid to use, but mostly because I just didn't want to do it myself.

They used what looks like 4 containers of fluid and an additive called "Lubrizol." Here are the lines from the invoice. It was not cheap, but it is done and the sound is gone.

I seem to recall seeing a Land Rover Advisory on this... I'd look it up and if there is one make the dealer apply the fix before the CPO runs out.

Mine is still under CPO and the fluid change was not covered.
