i noticed for the first time (8K mi on '16 LR4) that the cylindrical shift knob gets very warm when I drive a few hrs. Is this normal?
Thank you

I have a 2016 also and have not noticed that happening on long drives.

It is the sun. You might buy one of the accessory knobs in a more reflective color.

I've experienced the knob being warm as well, even at night sometimes.

A peeve of mine, the aluminum bezel around the shift knob produces an annoying glare from sunlight and is a distraction to me while driving.

Thank you. I checked out the sun theory and it doesn't appear to be the sun. It rained all day today and I drove about 50 miles and the knob was warm. The dark plate beneath it was a lot warmer. It's weird and I never noticed it before.

I have a2016 LR4 and I pulled it out to run a cable and I notice the shift knob assembly has a aluminium heat sink underneath. So I believe this shift knob is an electronic device that produces good amount of heat and it dissipate throught the entire assembly.
