@toddjb122 , what was that rack/maker you found? I still haven’t ordered mine (looking at 2018 season), so I’m curious about the options…
You found the other LR4 thread already where it was mentioned. Prospeed was one of the ones I had found which is linked there.

Here is a good article on the future of Land Rover, a good portion is just re-hashing of historical facts, but there is also some future model speculation/details as well.

Just returned from the dealer for service on my LR4. Some thoughts/observations.

- There are NO LR4's on the lot. They would like a few but they are all sold and/or not being traded in.
- Lots of Evoque's and Discovery Sports. That's good and bad.
- The Discovery 5 is not selling well. A few sales but overall very low to non-existent.
- Discovery 5 target market is really a different person. The Audi/Volvo/fill-in-the-blank customer. They aren't seeing them in showrooms.
- Discovery 5 front end too big / window slope too great / trail visibility poor.
- Mentioned that all LR models now look the same. Agreement and grumbling.
- The loaner, an Evoque, was really a cheap POS and shouldn't be wearing the RR badge. External visibility is horrendous.
- Per directive E stations being installed

In regards to the new DEFENDER per that analysis:

• standard wheelbase three-door with seating for five • long wheelbase five-door with seating for up to eight • standard wheelbase pick-up • long wheelbase pick-up • Mercedes-AMG G-Class rival with similar pricing

Welp...better start saving my money!

It really is sad. In the past, a potential LR buyer could at least feel like an explorer in that when he got to the dealer, there'd be a disco or defender or something around if to do nothing else than remind him that the 'adventurer DNA' was still there.

They said there should be multiple variants of defender, including but not exclusively a loaded AMG type one. That's how I read it anyway.

This is what a lot of corporate egg-heads do. They **** the golden goose, then move on to the next company. Think about North Face. This was a legit outdoor gear and apparel company back in the day. They made quality products and stood behind them. Next thing you know it is bought out by a company intent on delivering it to the masses. Now you can buy the low quality garb at places on par with JC Penny. The customers move on - rinse / repeat.
Trends come and go. Authenticity is far more enduring.
I'm excited to see the '18 G-wagon. Perhaps pick one up used in a few years.

I have been seeing a lot of Discovery commercials lately, they don't spend money unless they have to. In this case, they need to reach that new demographic and it will take some time and a lot of commercials I suspect. I think noticed sales were about flat in July (848) compared to June at 845 units. That's respectable as an LR4 number, but for a new model aimed at growth, it's not there yet. I'm not sure if its syling (even though I don't care for it) as much as pricing, it is a very expensive SUV with lots of competent competition at lower price points. We'll see how it goes after another few months and the launch of 2018 models.

I suspect a 2019 rear-end refresh is already in the works as it is the one aspect I see most agreed upon across the web and not in a positive way.

We joined a convoy of 10 disco 4's yesterday - they had already driven from Beijing to Frankfurt, and were on the last leg of their journey to solihull in the U.K. - what a fantastic trip that must be!! I would for sure much prefer to do it in an LR4 than the new discovery - how about you?

Did anyone see this Defender spy shot page yet? It seems to follow right on the heels of Gerry McGovern speaking about it, so I am wondering if these are legit shots? I am not sure what to even think as he keeps saying the Defender will look different than the others, yet in these photos, it looks like another carbon copy of the same design theme...They do make mention in the article that the Defender may not look like this particular mule, so fingers are crossed.....I did read where a baby Disco was in the works for 2019 too, so maybe this really is that model?
