So, just noticed that my rear driveshaft is starting to fling grease from the CV closest to the transfer case. Seem like you have to replace the whole entire shaft as nothing is serviceable. Can anyone confirm?
This is on a 2010 LR4 with 90k miles.

Sorry, searched but nothing helpful came up. Was hoping for more than "dealer replaced under warranty..."
But that's exactly how mine looks tho...
My intent was to ask if anyone has attempted to take one of these apart and possibly find interchangeable parts from other manufacturers. The kits from Jeeps or Ford looks remarkably similar. I just find it terribly wasteful to replace the whole shaft.
I might have to do just that. Then I'll have the old one to tear down and reverse engineer.
Anyone have any experience between OE vs aftermarket?

LR3/LR4 have the same driveshafts. Only differences is whether you have e-lock diff. Those shafts are a little shorter and NOT interchangeable with open diff. Be careful getting aftermarket boots, some maybe "thinner" than OEM. Changing the shaft is very easy, as long as you can crack open the axle nut :)

I replaced both on my LR3 about a month ago and got them from RL, rear was $395 front was $275. Neither was that bad a job, the rear has a carrier bearing that replaces with the assembly. FYI on the front you will need to drop the exhausts so be prepared to break a manifold bolt.
